Movie version of Mary Jane was kind of a blend of comic Mary Jane and comic Gwen.

The Ultimate universe is known for not bring chracters back from the dead. So hopfully Peter isn't coming back in the Ultimate universe.I wonder how long it will be when peter parker comes back to life. We all know Marvel cant keep him dead. Its when Superman died. He was dead for a lil bit and then was brought back to life. It will happen with Spider-man. He's too big of a character to remain dead forever.

Does anyone even care about whatever happens in the Ultimate Marvel comics at this point?TheFallenDemonI still do...only because I read Ultimate Spider-Man and Nick Spencer is working on Ultimate X-Men. Plus Loeb isn't involved with any of the recent titles so that's a plus.
[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"][QUOTE="Kcube"]Well someday he will be gay and going out with gary jane.NukaNukedThat got a smile out of me. :P It's true though, I'm surprised there hasn't been a homosexual super hero yet. Northstar of Alpha Flight and Ultimate X-Men's Colossus (a gay Russian mafia enforcer) would like a word with you
I first read that "blend" as "bland" and was inclined to agree ^_^Movie version of Mary Jane was kind of a blend of comic Mary Jane and comic Gwen.

How well is Colossus' sexuality fleshed out in the ultimate series?
... it interests me. >:

So are we going to have a Miles Morales Spiderman film in which Peter Parker is killed off?
I'm not really into my superheroes but to promote racial equality by doing this is just ridiculous, don't fix something that isn't broken and replace an original character...
No, unless the next movie follows the Ultimate story. Which won't happen most likelySo are we going to have a Miles Morales Spiderman film in which Peter Parker is killed off?

I heard about this and honestly I think marvel just needs to drop the whole Ultimate line. They just built it up around spiderman and xmen and killed off a massive amount of charachters. Not to mention the stories have never been more then just updated retellings of classic stories.
No, unless the next movie follows the Ultimate story. Which won't happen most likely I thought someone said earlier in the thread that the films are based on the Ultimate story? I'm not sure myself you see, so you'll have to correct me :P[QUOTE="DarthJohnova"]

However, as the new eyeballs wandered off very quickly after the novelty wore off, the Ultimate books quickly fell into a pattern of doing "reimaginings" of existing storylines.[QUOTE="DarthJohnova"]

Ah right, I see...so this doesn't really sound like a big deal because Ultimate sounds pretty non-canon? (from what I gather)

Yea, the Ultimate Universe is not Canon and separate from the original Earth 616 storyline.... Why? Couldn't they just make a new hero to fit the character? sSubZerOo
Exactly
This is disgusting the way they take established characters and think that it's somehow ok to mess with skin tone or gender or religion or whatever else they choose
It's lazy and disgraceful
this isn't a spin off, this is to the main series, you know the series thats been going for 49 years now? a lot of people are pissed that they killed of peter, also this news just broke a couple of hours ago[QUOTE="jamejame"]
You mean the new Spiderman is one of his hundreds of separate universes? Cool I guess though I don't really think its too big of a deal considering its jsut some spinoff series.
Chris_Williams
That is not the main series ...This is the Ultimate UniverseI would know I own the comics...The main series Sipder man is broken up with Marry Jane after some events...Once again I know...

You make it seem like Marvel killed off the original Earth 616 version of Peter Parker and replaced him. (which isn't the case)[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

What bothers me is this, yes it's not the, as the mainstream would say, "main" universe but it's considered an ongoing Marvel Universe and the Marvel Universes should share constants with whatever is widely known if they're an ongoing series.
Things that are this far off are meant for What If's (which most of the alternate universes came from) where they're glimpses of different worlds and some of the popular ones get revisited. Bits and pieces rather then whole stories.
For an ongoing series this much change for top tier characters is unacceptable
Well I'll be damned...I never thought I'd see the day where spiderman is a minority.
I like Peter Parker better, but I don't read the comics so it doesn't really bother me.
I definitely disagree; if it's going to be the same, there is no damn reason to have it. The fact that Ultimate had started veering so sharply toward 616 is the reason for the recent upheavals in that lineWhat bothers me is this, yes it's not the, as the mainstream would say, "main" universe but it's considered an ongoing Marvel Universe and the Marvel Universes should share constants with whatever is widely known if they're an ongoing series.

It doesn't need to be the same as far as story, it can be different with what happens to the characters.
There's tons of scripts and storylines that were never ok'd by the brass at Marvel because they were too much of a departure from the characters. Those can all be used for these lesser universes.
Something this radical isn't that character anymore, there's no reason to dirty the name with whatever drastic change someone wants to do on the character.
It's bad enough that the movies are warping these franchises, now the comics are doing it to themselves

The Ultimate universe was known for doing that from the get go though until sales started dropping and the Ultimate stories closely started to resemble Earth 616 stories. Please Log In to post.
