I think the sales boost has less to do with the cop being gone, and more to do with bad publicity turned good (GTA games and Bioware games say high)

Nobody deserves gratitute. We do our jobs and get paid. If we do something for free we must expect gratitude either, if you do something for free you are doing it out of the kindness of your heart, you enjoy doing it. NOT for looking for some kind of compensation. Cops are huge abusers of the law and think they are above it, they should just do their jobs WHICH they are paid to do. If they don't like it they can just quit.
They do "good" because it is their job to enforce the law not to ask for gratitude. They must have no respect for others thinking they are superior. Same goes for firefighters, politicians and military personel.

Some cops abuse the law, not all. But of course, the only ones that get pointed out are the former.
And yes, they do deserve gratitude. Cops, firefighters, and military personnel all put their lives on the line to serve the greater good and protect people's lives and their nation. No amount of compensation equals that.
If you have a problem with that, try getting out of your comfy chair behind a computer and move somewhere out of the protection from crime officers provide you on a daily basis. I doubt you will, because like all criticizers of the police, you'll happily enjoy the fruits of their labor and then belittle their protection when they don't do their job well enough.
It is their job TO SERVE and PROTECT, not to be served or be deemed special. Just like it is a farmers job to do a what he does.Gratitude for what? Cops aren't volunteers or good samaritans. They're college dropouts.F1_2004
I'm going to school to become a police officer and so far I've had a consistent 4.0 GPA. Because of this I'm going to drop out right now and work at a coffee shop:cry:
Yea, I have never met one of those elusive good cops yet. I'm sure they are out there somewhere though. I live with a security officer who chills with a bunch of cops and I can say that I know of several occasions where non uniformed popos have driven under the influence and gotten off because they are cops. If I drive drunk I lose my license, car, and livelihood though...
I agree 100%. The owners were just attention whoring punks if you ask me.The people in that picture on the site look like they are an indie band posing for a publicity shot for some reason. It seems stupid to throw the guy out just because someone felt uncomfortable. Some cops may do bad things but there are still good ones. Wearing that "No police" T Shirt makes that guy look idiotic though. Like one of those teens who pretend to be anarchists to get attention.

It is their job TO SERVE and PROTECT, not to be served or be deemed special. Just like it is a farmers job to do a what he does. No one said he was special....He was asked to be removed because they do not like cops, when cops are working out there to help protect the very people who are pushing them out.My brother in law is one of these good cops. Yeah sure this sounds bias, you can try to call me on that. Anyways, he never drives drunk, he is very kind, always willing to help, works in kids camps, does many side jobs for companies. So yes, there are good cops out there.Yea, I have never met one of those elusive good cops yet. I'm sure they are out there somewhere though. I think that the fact that they kicked the officer out of the cafe had little to do with the boost. The article says that the news received national coverage, which would obviously draw attention to the cafe as an advertisement would. It's more of being interested in what happened than supporting it.A BOOST in customers. What the heck?

That's what I thought immediately after I saw that pic.
Same here. I volunteer for the local first aid squad so I work with cops a lot, and I still haven't really found any good ones. They rarely do anything that actually protects people and instead spend their time harassing teenagers and giving out parking tickets. An example of how worthless they can be: some guy got in an accident on the highway. The cops told us to get onto the highway on the wrong entrance, so we had to back up an ambulance for about a quarter mile down the highway. We asked the six cops who were there to direct traffic while we backed up....they didn't do jack, we almost got hit several times. While helping the patient it was the same, they didn't do anything and I was almost hit when we were lifting him out of the wrecked car. I'm sure there are good cops out there (so don't start attacking me everyone), but I honestly haven't seen one, ever.Yea, I have never met one of those elusive good cops yet. I'm sure they are out there somewhere though. Perhaps, but why would they kick out a cop who was just in for a minute to "grab a coffee". I think they would have no need to kick him out if he were only there for a short amount of time.

lol they look like if they were posing for a band picture.cyberdarkkid
Most cops are cops because they failed at all their other goals or ran out of other career choices...not because they want to "serve and protect"
sboyer2
Really? I can forsee a lot of reasons why someone might become a cop, why don't you back up that statement with some evidence?
Not surprising, people have seriously started associating police officers (or Images of police officers) as a symbol for this over use in, and abuse of "authority."
Who can blame them for thinking this really? there have been so many rights and liberties legislated away in the past decade, and the completely wrong laws enforced, what do you think is gonna happen?
Though I think borders are a big problem, always have been, "From God(s) to lines in the sand, we have needlessly killed one another over these old ideas" (quote of my own there) People should be able to go anywhere, no restriction, the earth is ours to share, not fight over. So if the cop was just getting some coffee, not starting any problems, I do not see a reason why they should have made him leave.
ok see i agree some cop's could be major pricks and i also agree that it was there store so they can kick anyone out, but why the hell did they kick him out just for being a police officer..???:|
god do i loathe hippies

There are far easier career choices to make, police officer is no the easiest.. Infact its one of the hardest.. That seem to be a direct contridiction to where a flunky would want to go.

Sterotypes are fun! /sarcasm.

Let's be alternative and weird just for the sake of it. Yay for tolerance and diversity. "This doesn't compare to race, someone can choose to be a police officer....blah, blah, blah......" I'll bet this loser was high-fiving himself for making what they thought was a REALLY HUGE homerun point.
Like I said, I'm a 4.0 student who's hoping to get into law and so far I've taken these classes. Computer Concepts Criminal Justice Sys/Intro to English Composition 1 Oral/Interpersonal Comm Speech Abnormal Psychology Developmental Psychology Intro to Sociology Intro to Psychology Even when I complete my schooling I will be transferring to a 4 year college to further my education. Looks like my goal is in pretty good condition considering after this I will have many options to get into almost any field dealing with the justice system. Most cops are cops because they failed at all their other goals or ran out of other career choices...not because they want to "serve and protect"

I think the officer who was kicked out said that. I think he handled it exceptionally well, actually.Let's be alternative and weird just for the sake of it. Yay for tolerance and diversity. Edit: I was wrong. The owner of the shop said that. Pretty callous of him, IMO.
Wow, I knew there would be one really ignorant post in this thread and look ladies and gentleman, here it is.
