Sorry, the rest of the world sees people as the following: Whites Blacks Mexicans Chinese/Asians Unless you hang a sign stating you are from Spain then some people are going to get it wrong. That's the way it works.
Sounds more stupid then racist. I had a friend who thought Italy was in France. And even on this very forum there is a large group of people who think that West Virginia is a southern state.

Well to be fair, there aren't many people from Spain in America and most spanish people in America would be from Mexico so for her to assume you are Mexican is just a sound assumption.
However, if she actually said "i though that anyone who speaks spanish is mexican" then yes, she is an idiot, but not a racist.
