I generally have a beer or two a day. Love it. :)

Pirate700

I never understood this. Do you get drunk, or just like the taste. I really don't like the taste of alchohol, although I drink a lot.

Actually, I guess you are the smart one, not always drinking to get hammered.

Do I get drunk off a couple of beers? lol Anyway, I just love beer. Love the tast and the alc. is an added bonus. I just enjoy to have a couple of beers at night and watch TV. Very relaxing.:)

yessir. My taste for beer has grown exponentially.

[QUOTE="edwise18"]I can't even approach a girl without being buzzed. ghoklebutter
You know that alcohol isn't necessary for talking to a girl, right?

Sometimes it is, especially when you are filled with self-doubt and self-criticisms. When thoughts of you inadequacies fill and circle your mind, trampling your ability to speak to the opposite sex; when you cannot even look them inthe eyes without feeling that there is no way they could be attracted to you when you can't even stand yourself. Alcohol helps to quietn these voices and allow some semblance of a normal interaction.

I'm certain that problem can also be solved without alcohol. Here's an example: taking laxatives for relief will eventually make you dependent on them if used frequently. Go to a doctor instead to solve that problem. Similarly, getting drunk to improve your socializing skills will make you dependent on alcohol for that purpose. So go talk to a psychiatrist if you feel so under-confident that merely looking at a girl is a challenge.

Whilst I don't drink a lot I do enjoy a bit once in a while.

As for societies views of it here ... well Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are the nights where people "go out and party" during winter, with it being almost every night during summer. Drinking is the norm. Going to work with a hangover is not out of the ordinary. Heck, last week was the biggest booze fest for our nation ... there was the usual Thursday and Friday nights, then Halloween on Saturday, then Sunday night because people will just call in sick the Monday. Monday was the day of rest, than Tuesday Melbourne Cup came along and the majority of people got drunk and are sleeping it off today (Wednesday). Then tomorrow the start of the weekly party cycle continues.

This weekly cycle even has a large effect on TV ratings ... the best and most expensive shows are on Sunday - Wednesday nights, as Thursday onwards the audience dwindles significantly.

Growing up as a teen in Australia and not drinking is actually really annoying. I don't know why but i really don't care for alcohol or have really any motivation to try it. At pretty much all the parties when people are really wasted and your the only one sober is a really pain in the a$$.

I like to drink socially. But I always limit myself at 7 beers, so I'm having a good time, but not waking up wasted the next day. I'll drink when I don't have something important coming up in the next week. So not every often . . once every two months?

I wanna ask what kind of relationship people have towards it, and what the society you live in relate to it. I myself don't drink, and i am tired of people forcing me to drink. I have nothing against people having a good time with alchohol, but it just isn't for me

The_Last_Ride

lol my society is fine with it, but my workplace is horrible. 90% of the people I work with have had at least 3 or 4 drinks:P As for myself, I like to drink...outside of work.

Where I live, alcohol is as necessary as water and air. People around here drink all the time. I personally like drinking, but I don't do it much these days. A few times a month maybe.

I only drink at parties. And I can say it's a whoooole new dimension of fun. If a party is a lot of fun....if you're drunk it's even better. Drinks : vodka, tequila, beer, wine. I don't party often so that's a good thing I guess.

Your in a campfire, all by your lonesome. Along comes a stranger, his face hidden by the darkness. You offer him a beer, he refuses. Do you trust the man who doesn't drink?

It's refreshing, it's nice, I like it. I guess with all the anti binge drinking stuff going on, the government and NHS service are drilling a lot of info into the kiddies heads that alchohol is bad and people who drink it are evil. It seems to work judging by how often these threads come up.

I defend alcohol to the hilt personally. It's an important part to some of my lifes little rituals, we have to have a Corona or Cornish Blonde after each surf session.

I don't usuasly get along with the mentality of anyone that consumes alcholol. There is really no reason to drink it to begin with. Even minor consumption of it has been shown to shrink your brain.. they did this by looking at brain scans and the size of peoples brains who drink over time.. and even social drinkers or people who consume 1 a day or 1 a week.. were shown to have smaller brain size.

Not to mention just peoples reasons for consuming it to begin with is annoying..

EMOEVOLUTION

dude get over yourself. some people drink beer for the same reason people drink sprite or oranje juice. some people like getting drunk, and i'll agree with them that it is fun. that's fine if you don't like the taste or don't like being drunk but don't be ignorant about it.

And actually, studies have found that people who drink occasionally have better mental acuity, and have less chance of developing Alzheimers, later in life than people who don't drink.

I'm straight edge so i dont drink alchohol or do any other drugs, but i have learnt to accept that friends of mine do. People cant force you to drink although you can be pressured to drink if thats what you mean, maybe people literally telling you to or just them doing it around you and enjoying themselves makes you pressured into drinking. If you dont want to drink then dont, dont let other people force their views on you just decide for yourself.

I like drinking, but currently, I have little access to it and it doesn't mix well with my medication. Next year should be different as I'm going to be 21 and I'm not likely to be medicated anymore.

Even if I were 21, though, I don't see myself caring about beer that much. I might drink it at special occasions, like parties or whatever, but probably not on a daily basis.

Just to be clear, I hope there are no hard feelings. I don't necessarily agree enitrely with the position I took. And there is some merit in seeking professional help with several of the issues that plague us in our daily lives. But, I have to say, the feeling of being buzzed when hanging out with some friends is tough to beat, lol.

Drink occasionally when I feel like it. I drink wine, tequila with soda and wodka with lemon ice cream. And that is it. curono
Vodka with Lemon Ice Ceam...is that like sherbert or regular ice cream? How is it (obviously good enough for you to drink)? -seems like it would be too sweet to drink very much
