One can at least make a pretty educated guess that it is possible. Our solar system and star is by no means the oldest in the universe, there are far older solar systems/stars out there.. In a Universe of 300+ million galaxies out there.. Each with 100 billion to 500 billion stars as last estimated.. I would think most would see it as a huge possibility when your given such a large pool.
Anything is possible, that's my point. We don't know, so there is no point in arguing about it.

Come on.I'm well aware of the origin of the universe and our solar system, and like someone else already said, do you know what the chances of intelligent life being formed are? Yea, so small it's actually conceivable that we could be exclusive to the universe. Again, it's a dead end argument.
