[QUOTE="i-rock-socks"]

so if im in a race and i come in "first"

and the other racers give up

im no longer in first?

ur logic is "incorrect"

JustPlainLucas

No, you won by default, but I don't consider anyone coming in first unless there's someone actually competiting. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp. *shrugs*

if i walk into a store before anyone else

i entered 1st

if no one else enters

i still entered 1st

i understand your "concept"

it still is "incorrect"

*facepalm*

Since the version where Han Solo shot first came out before the version Greedo shot first, Han Solo was the first to shoot first and Greedo was the second to shoot first.

Alright, listen to logic first before you vote. It is true that in the original version, Han Solo shot and killed Greedo in the cantina, but Greedo never even got a shot off. In the revised 1997 edition, the scene was edited to have Greedo shoot first, missing and then being dispatched by Han Solo. Now, when you analyze the question, "Who shot first", that would imply that TWO people have to be shooting. Since the original version of A New Hope only had Han Solo shooting, we cannot consider that version. Thus, we MUST look to the 1997 version as the correct version to base this debate on. In this instance, Greedo cleary shoots first, ending the debate.

Remember, if you choose Han Solo, you've made that decision based on the original version. There is no "first", because Solo was the only one shooting, so logically, your answer is incorrect.

JustPlainLucas

Han was the first and only person to shoot.

Han Solo shot first.. they changed it later on because it apparently gave kids the wrong idea.. i guess they dont want kids to learn to stand up for themselves in a 'kill or be killed' situation.

Well, if you were facing off with a terrorist, it would be rather rude to NOT allow him to shoot first before killing him. Han is just teaching kids good manners.

Your logic is flawed as it doesn't take into consideration intent like another poster said in a mexican standoff or a hockey game the person how shoots or scores is frst even if the other side doesn't because the other side intended to shoot or score get it? so Greedo intended to shoot Han that was obvious and Han then dispatched Greedo before he could do the same to Han so he shot first! I hope you get it now.

On the pure movie side Han shot first because Greedo wouldn't have made it to being a Hutt Gangster if he couldn't hit his target at such close range and as the prequels showed Lucas had 20years of people kissing his arse so much he thought he could do no wrong which he could and did.

Han fired before Greedo could becasuse he is a badass who shoots first, thinks later.

I dont know why they changed it, adding that sense of "morality" only made the character worse

Han shot first. Anything otherwise is a lame George Lucas remake of that scene.
