No one part of a song is key. When all parts come together in unison is when you have a good song. In fact, your lyrics can be TERRIBLE as long as the entire song has a generally enjoyable sound.

Dude, at best you could call this poetry. Maybe if you rapped it to one of a thousand generic hip-hop beats it could be considered a song. But, I doubt ANYONE could tell you how good you are at songwriting just from READING lyrics. It's like gauging how well someone plays basketball after just a game of horse or something.

I dont care what the lyrics are if the melody isnt any good. What you have is a poem. Where are the chords? The melody? The harmony? The motifs or riffs/leads?

*or did I miss a link to a recording?*

If "Somebody told me, you had a boyfriend, who looked like a girlfriend" is a top 10 hit lyric, then nothing needs to be Shakespeare.

There are so many aspects of songwriting, calling it just poetry I think isnt quite right. Unless you were trying to snipe me with a 3 word sentence or something.

[QUOTE="Grey_Eyed_Elf"]I'm confused... how does a child born blind and deaf know what is a man and a paradise?... and what do you mean by "but by no means dumb"?DmadFearmonger
"Deaf, Dumb and Blind. I took out "Dumb" because the child is smart enough to concept It's own reality. And art doesn't have to make logical sense

When they say dumb it actually used to mean mute, not dumb as in stupid. Meaning he/she can't speak. Though they don't really use either "dumb" or "mute" anymore when referring to a deaf individual.
