You certainly are not the only person.
Anyone who willingly makes derivative films full of loud explosions, a near pornographic film $tyle, a juvenile view of women that boarders on misogyny, and then walks off into the bank with paychecks while stroking his greying stubble with a Cheshire cat style grin, knowing that he can do it all again no matter how many people hate him, deserves all the hate they receive.
And he reads comments like this from his gold bath tub, chuckling to himself.
Doesn't he make the same film over and over again? This time with robots.I didn't know OT was populated by so many virtuous users brimming with integrity. If you can make a living putting out products that are horrible, the more power to you. The films he makes are not mandatory to see, they don't cost more to see than other films, and many people find them enjoyable and entertaining. Should we ban musical artists, videogame developers, food manufacturers, and authors from cashing in on the stupidity and banality of common society?

Maybe I mean.. I'm hoping for the banning of Halo soooon(PLEASE...)
[QUOTE="Travo_basic"]Doesn't he make the same film over and over again? This time with robots.Samwel_X
Or this time with WW2.
Well, his films are like nukes on North American cinema..
Just because his films aren't even half the caliber of award-winning movies or even just good movies doesn't mean that they don't have a place. These types of movies are good for the economy.

Here's asolution: DON'T WATCH MICHAEL BAY MOVIES
Simple, huh?
He doesn't need to stop making movies.
Personally, I know what I'm getting into when I'm going to watch an M.Bay movie and loved both Transformer movies.
The reason people want him to stop is because it's a disgrace to cinema. They're not saying it's effecting their lives, they're saying his movies ****ing suck and he doesn't deserve to make the money he does. Thanks, SOMEONE finally gets it.
It just seems crazy to me that people feel that their tastes or opinions have to win. Who cares if Transformers 2 is successful it in no way affects you. And the people who believe that Transformers or Bay movies in general are a blight on American cinema, which magical standard are we supposed to shoot for? Which country is putting out nothing but emotionally riveting complex character dramas with every single film? Every country has a division that makes dumb, broad comedies, or shiny special effects driven fluff, or overly violent action movies. We just don't hear about them because American critics have enough movies to keep up with, why bother with another country's garbage? So all we hear about is other countries best movies.
It's all going to be okay. No one in France or Japan, or wherever holds you personally responsible for approving Transformers' marketing budget.
If Transformers 3 sweeps all the awards at Cannes, then you can start worrying.
You want depth, acting, plot, etc., etc., Stay away from Michael Bay movies! The man makes good ACTION movies, not great movies. There is a clear distinction between a good action movie and a great movie like say, Good Will Hunting. Bay knows what he's doing. He makes his movies to SELL TICKETS, not to impress you cynical wannabe critics. I swear to god, Bay bashing is starting to become a very irritating OT trend... :|JustPlainLucas
I wouldn't call them "good"
How about ya just stop watching his movies?
Personally, I enjoy the senseless, explosion-filled, sexyactorsrunninginslowmotionness that his films provides in excess. It's fun to watch a movie like that every once in a while.

The man doesn't make "good" action movies. He makes movies with explosions. There's a difference.
You want good action movies? Watch Terminator, T2, Aliens, or The Dark Knight. The pacing is well done, and it actually has some depth.

Exactly, an action film by doesn't have to be a derivative piece of **** by default. It doesn't have to be hated by critics by default. Good action films can have depth, can have a story, can have more than just frenetic camera movements and CGI.
So do I. The more the better.I love explosions... :(
Wasdie
Who gives a **** about depth and pacing?? I mean, really. All I care about is whether I can be entertained for a couple hours on a lazy, summer evening. That's it.

Well I'm sorry sorry if you're so easy to impress. You must of been one of the many who went to see X-Men Origins instead of Watchmen.
[QUOTE="D3nnyCrane"]No, he's the master of unintentional comedies...ParonoiaAgent
I don't see what you're getting at....
Means his attempts at gritty action leave me laughing my ass off.Michael Bay is an abomination to mankind. I just watched Transformers 2 and.. Well... Twinny1990Robots. With testicles. Nuff said.

Theres a sentimental moment in Transformers 2: Spoiler. Where they are about to drop Optumus' body on the hangar. And theres sad music playing and I assume they're going to hover him down onto with a chopper. But no, they hover him down until he hangs about 5 meters above the hangar, then they just drop him with a bang like he's a worthless piece of trash, like the movie. Spoiler.[QUOTE="ParonoiaAgent"][QUOTE="D3nnyCrane"]No, he's the master of unintentional comedies...Twinny1990

I don't know about you guys, but to me movies are more than just thoughtless entertainment for a two hour period to be forgotten the moment I leave the theatre. Film is much more than that, and deserves much better. Besides, it's not hard to think and appreciate a good plot and character development, that's what makes a great movie what it is. If you want a mindless ride, go hop on a rollercoaster. The medium of film is to be able to convey much more than just sex, explosions, and 12 year old juvenile robot leg humping humor. I'm not saying these movies don't have a place, but when halfway decent Sci-fi movies come out once every 2-3 years, there's a problem.
It seems that any Sci-fi action movies are automatically given the "least common denominator" treatment nowadays just because of their genre. When was the last time we honestly had a decent Sci-fi movie? The original Matrix? Nope, I didn't find Star Trek to be a good movie. As Bay knows, why bother with important aspects of a movie when he can fill it up with FX to dazzle audiences? As bad a filmmaker as he is, he sure knows what he's doing.
He's had enough chances to improve, yet he just CAN'T. I mean, I want more than just "hot" women, things that go boom, and plot holes( which I don't want). I,as I hope you do, want DEPTH, ACTING, and a PLOT(a GOOD one).
ParonoiaAgent
Meh, he can do what he wants.
You and I might not like his movies, but that's not really important. If we don't like them, we don't have to watch them.
Meanwhile, apparently there are a hell of a lot of people who DO like his movies. So if there are people who want to see his movies, why should he stop just because you and I think he sucks?
I think the real question is why are you still watching Michael Bay movies?
[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]You act like I'm the only one that hates him. hate is such a strong word, my friend...i enjoyed transformers 1 and 2 but id be a liar if i said i LOVED them. they were entertaining and thats that.I don't really care. I've just stopped watching his movies.
*waits for sammy to come in and start flaming Michael Bay... :|*

I don't understand the fascination people have with stopping successful people from doing things...FragStains
Because they're successful, and I'm not. So if they're gonna get successful by being crappy, then that makes me feel sad and inadequate.
So there are two options. Either I can get successful so that other peoples' success is not threatening to me, or I can try to bring successful people down. The first option sure as hell ain't happening, so I'm going with the latter option.
Totally agree - in fact, I think there should be a list of people that have to get permission from me to make a film...

Noo... those are great movies. When I mean good action movies, i mean just that "good action" movies. For solely action purposes, he excels.I am so glad you don't work in the industry. :|Totally agree - in fact, I think there should be a list of people that have to get permission from me to make a film...
backinthekrak
He's made some good movies, but that doesn't mean all his movies are good. I think he needs to set himself up with a few goals. -Make a film without explosions -Make a film without violence -Make a film without immature humor -Make a film without cliched characters Of he could try his hand at that he might realize how he's been butchering his own work. Yes explosions are very visual, but they occur so frequently in his films that their dramatic impact is nothing. If someone throws water at you while you're standing in line at Mc Donalds it's a shock to the system. If it occurs while you're at the beach it has no effect. It's the same with Michael Bay and his over the top action.AcronymnsFTW
