[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]He's a murderer, not a child rapist. People who murder people can still write books, you know. Some of the most twisted people ever are wonderful writers.Palantas

On that subject, what would it matter if he were a child molester? He's not going to molest anybody via novel, unless there are some recent innovations in book making that I don't know about.

This is certainly true, but I think I'd be a lot more uncomfortable if it was a child rapist, because of the fact that books for children 'speak' to them and 'reach out' to them, attempting to connect with what they like and get them interested. I don't want any child molester reaching out to my child or connecting with them, through a novel or by any other means. That would just skeeve me out.

I don't see why this is an issue.

No, I mean "disinclined", as in "not inclined to". And I still don't know what point you're attempting to make. You're comparing a book of fiction, by its nature a made up story, to a channel which purports to be news, news being, or supposing to be, a factual account according to avalible data.

Palantas

Yes, you have identified the particulars of the situations. I am not referencing the particulars, but a principle common to both situations. If you have an issue with what I said...

People have a prejudice against a source, so they assume some information issued by the source is suspect in some way, without actually reviewing the information.

I

...then write it down.

I take issue with the fact that you evidently believe that there's some double standard in play in seperating the art from the artist in a work of fiction, but not seperating the credibility of the source in a news broadcast.

 That's ridiculous, it's not like the book is a guide to murdering for children.

I think if the author offends people they shouldn't purchase the book. But it's not up to them to decide what others chose to purchase. LJS9502_basic
This. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Oh, why's that? And if you explain yet again that a kid's book and a news broadcast are not the same thing, I will start posting up my own quotes blocks.

I don't care what you've done, your book or movie will be judged separately.[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]He's a murderer, not a child rapist. People who murder people can still write books, you know. Some of the most twisted people ever are wonderful writers.Jandurin
Do you not watch Roman Polanski's movies?

Missed this before, sorry. And no, I don't. I may have seen a movie he worked on but I've never gone out of my way to find one.
