I would love to live in a fantasty world where 1000 people is a proper sample size of 300 million. Sadly I live in reality.

Then you should never ever pay attention to any scientific polls.. EVER.. Because they usually always involve sample sizes around that...

[QUOTE="TheWalkingGhost"]Who cares? It is none of your damn business what people believe.sSubZerOo

It does when we have jackasses on the science board that don't accept peer reviewed data because their beliefs get in the way.. It is a problem when we have communities and politicians trying to stop anything that goes against their beliefs to be put in public schools like evolution.. IF you believe in this quietly, by all means go ahead and believe it.. But there is a large vocal group within there that want to steer policy based upon their beliefs regardless of what evidence that has been put forward that contradicts that.

or if it sets cancer research back 20 years because of stupid/apathetic people....

I'm just waiting for him to respond: "I did take statistics." Which will make it even worse.

To be fair, I went to a Christian College and many people there, while creationists, did not believe in the young Earth theory because that was created by some priest a couple hundred years ago. There is no mention of it anywhere in the Bible.

Well many christians out there have no problem believing in their religion and acknowledging scientific theories. It shouldn't be contradictory. The problem arises when they try to question well established scientific theories with religious nonsense. A thing creationists are famous for doing.

The funny thing is that Christians who go around trying to disprove science are in conflict of the teachings of the bible.

It pretty clearly states that you are supposed to believe in god based wholly on faith, not evidence. Part of believing on god based on faith is to do so while there is a lot of contractory evidence otherwise.

So trying to prove that jesus existed or that there was noah's ark or god created the earth and everything on it as it is will get you into a perdicament when you die if god is truly who you say he is.

But most christians don't read the bible so...

False. It says "in the beginning" God created the earth. It never gives any frame of reference for how long after that it took him to start creating life.

Kids don't always keep their parents beliefs, no matter how hard they push it on them. And most of those kids won't become doctors anyway. It is a slow change, I would bet this number drops below 30% in the next decade.

Except that it is when those beliefs have a direct effect on our political and education systems. So much easier to say "god did it" than actually taking a look at real hard evidence isn't it?

I can only assume the idiocy in this topic caused some sort of universal rift that temporarily destroyed the Gamespot server earlier. We got sample size complaining. We got people trying to tell other people what their political views are. We got bad TCs. We got Stevo. We got creationists. Gamespot: We got it all. Except smart people, they left.

Hong Kong. One of the lowest tax rates out there. But then you have to deal with the chinese government.

I thought they were still autonomous when it comes to most things.

You may be right. One of my college friends worked there for years and made a killing. Not sure what influence the chinese govt. has there, but I wouldnt want to get in trouble with the law in that country.

[QUOTE="HoolaHoopMan"]It is a big deal with modern medicine and the entire field of Biology rely on it. Only a fvcking moron would say it isn't a big deal. airshocker

Right, because those who believe in creationism have such an impact on medicine and biology. ROFL. God you must be fvcking stupid.

If you teach your children creationism you're effectively denying them an entire line of work or career. That IS a big deal. Scientific illiteracy is a problem our country is facing right now. Its an embarrassment.

No you aren't. Children make up their own minds as they grow. There are plenty of people who are not only religious, but also hold some type of scientific degree.

We're also facing problems with math and---unbelievably---english. That says more about our educational system than religion.
