We would simply cut of our electrictity exports right before NFL Sunday kickoff....this would result in the immediate surrender of 100 million Americans. Come Monday another 100 million would surrender when the magic box doesn't work and Oprah, Regis & Kelly, and Dr Phil cannot be seen. The remaining 100+million are Democrats and secretly wish they were Canadian anyway :)

Dylan_11

China will annex the US before that happens.

Hope you like chow mein.

;)

Ni hao ma!!!

Yeah, I'm not worried about China in the near-term... to annex a country you need to get troops there. China doesn't have a navy that can invade TAIWAN, never mind the USA. China may end up owning us, but the people who should be (and are) worried about actual annexation by China are not on this continent.

Meanwhile. Canada is a lot of space with low population density, no nuclear deterrent, and a respectable, but insufficient air-force. Hope you like gun-violence!!! ;)

akdiuuuryttt

That depends on the nukes, but I think better reasons are: 1.) Most of Canada doesn't need to be invaded and held, just small regions around the Great Lakes, and northern Canada which is sparsly populated. Nuclear weapons are good for devestating population centers... why kill TONS of people to take over a part of the country on the opposite coast? 2.) If we launched into a nuclear takeover of another country, we'd almost certainly be uniting the world against us and touching off a world war with the USA as Germany. The radiation issue is overblown; modern thermonuclear design and deployment could in theory devestate those population centers such as Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, etc... without creating much in the way of lasting fission products. Those areas are also not sitting on your water, oil, or mineral reserves. Still... since they're NOT sitting on those reserves, it would basically be senseless murder, which is a far better reason.

We would simply cut of our electrictity exports right before NFL Sunday kickoff....this would result in the immediate surrender of 100 million Americans. Yeah, that's what you want... 100 million gun-toting red-state NFL fans pissed at you for interrupting their game. Are you sure that's not actually the USA's plan to fire up the populace? :D

Well... When water becomes a big problem, I guess more desalination plants can be made. They're very expensive though.

Yeah... nuking the country directly below you is a fabulous idea, especially when they have a military that can utterly obliterate your population centers.

If that country is about to violently invade your options are limited.

The US doesn't want our beef, chicken, eggs, produce, they shouldn't want our water either.

Yeah, something tells me the Canadian public wouldn't enjoy the process of developing a nuclear weapons program, the money involved, the testing, the production of weapons-grade materials... all for a threat most wouldn't believe exists. To gain a true nuclear deterrent (and not just a gadget) would not work for Canada. There are many reasons why, and I'm not advocating the morality of annexation, but there's just no sense in pursuing nuclear weaponry from the Canadian point of view.

What does, "should" have to do with international politics and forcible seizure of resources?

Don't you know Canadian food is toxic? I would only assume Canada's water is unfit for The United States as well.
