Ignorance. The monarchy is purely symbolic and has no power of *any kind*. And by the sounds of things, seems like y'all have an *ACTUAL* monarchy seeing as your votes don't count for sh!t. We also do have the equivalent of the first ammendment in the Human Rights Act and European Convention of Human Rights.[QUOTE="coolbeans90"]You guys still have monarchy.[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] I'll give it a whirl.... I don't think we got dragged into **** to be honest. For such a tiny little island we own a ridiculous amount of the worlds oil and natural gas wealth. We go wherever the oil goals. Hell, practically the whole situation with Iran is because little old Britain had to give back countries do people who couldn't run 'em.Also, hippo, our rigged leaders, on a whim, have dragged u guys into third world countries to kill people.

Maybe so, but we sure made a heck of a lot of cash out of it. I think it was in our best interests. It's hardly a pro-point for America though is it? We use our gigantic size to bully smaller nations into illegal wars! Wow, well done. Sounds like a great place to live.[QUOTE="coolbeans90"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] I don't think we got dragged into **** to be honest. I heard there's a referrundum coming up soon and polls are tilting in Scottish favor. :)
My family (Stewart) was ran out of Scotland for political reasons. The whole James Stewart I/II fiasco.

It does look like they'll depart - the chap who's campaigning for it (I forget his name) is pretty shrewd and charasmatic, although how it'll work is still up in the air as is the 'degree' of seperation, e.g. what currency would they use? Would they join the Euro and use that? What happens to the military, the naval bases and shipyards that bouys the economy in certain quarters of Scotland. Who knows. At a glance it seems the idea is driven by a romantic ideal rather than practical one.
And your family history sounds quite intriguiing - a little more interesting than my own at least:P

You can forage for them in the Scotish highlands, deep in burrows where the male of the species keep them warm under their kilt. Be warned though they'll defend their nest until their dying breath.
Actually I want one now as well. There's a French Patisserie owned by Japanese that serve Scotch eggs around the corner from me... Yum.

I removed it because I wasn't sure what country scotch eggs were from. Scottish, British or Indian. Looked it up, a British company lays claim to it, but it could have been inspired by an Indian dish.[QUOTE="poptart"][QUOTE="DarkOfKnight"] A FRENCH patisserie owned by a JAPANESE person that serves SCOTTISH food......:oDarkOfKnight

TBH I have no idea where the first scotch egg made. I've always assumed it was a british thing, like black pudding and pickled eggs...

Wiki says Scotch Eggs are inspired from indian/mogul cuisine Nargisi Kofta. I'd really love to try Scotch Eggs, looks yummy :)
