Pictures of the new currency that will supposedly replace the US dollar have appeared on the Russian Internet. The United States is reportedly working on the new currency, the amero, which will be common for the USA, Mexico and Canada. The unstable financial situation in the world, the collapsing oil prices and the growing foreign debt of the United States may eventually crush the US dollar as the world's major currency. Needless to say that the US authorities reject the rumors and promise to keep the dollar afloat.

Amero notes have no portraits of US presidents on them and resemble the Belarussian rubles. For example, there is an image of a deer depicted on a 50-amero note, whereas a picture of a pyramid of Mexican Indians can be seen on a 100-amero note.

The amero follows the model of the European Union and its euro. It brings up the idea that the new currency can be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico within the scope of the North American Union, which the Bush administration established in 2005 under the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).

Somehow I really doubt we will see this happen. The greenbacks are so ingrained into American society, hell even the rest of the world knows what a "dead president" is.

That bill is fake for one reason, anyone could counterfeit it in their basements. I'm not saying the Amero is fake but the bill in that picture sure is.

One world government here we come!! If that happens i don't see why they would even need to keep borders. I doubt that is the REAL one they would use. There are too many people who oppose this idea right now for it to happen.

However, don't be surprised if by 2010 they're the final design of our new Amero currency. ;)

Old news much, , in the past few years, we've experienced inflation, and deflation, and inflation, and deflation, and on and on. It most likely will not happen, and if it does, don't expect it to be too soon from now.

He didn't; the video referred to a trade union for all of North and South America, and only as a personal objective, not something that is underway. "Confirmation" must mean something different to you than it does to me.

Have you watched the video of Vicente Fox confirming the Amero?

Vicente Fox can confirm that the USA and Canada are blowing up the moon and giving Mexico gifts of golden skyscrapers, that hardly makes it true.

If you think Vicente Fox is privy to the inner workings of either of those two enormous governments you must be insane, and if you think Russia of all places is somehow is the first nation to have their hands on a new shared NA currency you beyond insane. There is a 0% chance either the USA or Canada would enter into a shared currency agreement with Mexico, it would have tremendously devastating effects on both of those two economies. We're no more likely to enter into a common currency with Mexico then we are with Somalia.

Only a week or two ago a Russian professor was saying that the US would soon split into 4 separate countries. It's asinine propaganda.

the Amero is old news that many dont even know about. It has been in talks for years and well, looks like its forrealz.

It has been talked about nuts on the internet for years, along with a billion other conspiracy theories. It originated from a far-flung theory by a Canadian professor from 1999. There is a 0% chance either the American or Canadian governments would enter into such an agreement, and no one - nobody, from either government is even considering such a thing.

I'm glad you've confirmed it to be "forrealz," and I hate to be the bearer of bad news - but it's just the perpetuated hoax of a few bored kids on the net:

I wouldn't be too surprised if it happened in a few years, but those are definitely not going to be the final designs. The main reason dollar bills are green, is because green ink is cheap. Almost all currency sticks to predominantly one color, and those designs are too detailed to be made cheaply.

It isn't green because green ink is "cheap," it's green because of an early bill made by Abe Lincoln / US govn't that used that color so it has kept up with that tradition.

And the bills aren't just green, they use speciality inks of many colors (yellow, red, etc.) that are made to be extremely difficult to counterfeit.

I know they're multicolored, but they still remain predominantly one color for cost.

I'll await some evidence; I don't see any reason or evidence that either the US or Canada would want to couple their currency values to a country whose currency has been so frequently and devastatingly devalued.

ZigsZags

Not. Going. To. Happen.

There would be absolutely no benefit to the United States. None. It would only have a negative impact, an enormous negative impact. Why would the United States enter into such an agreement? It would have just as much of a negative impact on Canada as well, and apart from the immediate negative impacts on their economy they would likely lose control over their own economic sovereignty if they shared a currency with the US (the US, being a much larger economy, would have much more control.) Why would they do that?

People in this thread have no concept whatsoever of what doing such a thing would involve, and what sort of impact it would have (beyond saying "IT's true, or "in 10 years there'll be another currency.") We're more likely to be living on Saturn in the next 10 years than we are to be sharing a common currency with Mexico.

Seriously, think about it. Does it make sense? We're currently trying to build a giant fence between the US and Mexico and yet for some reason, we're going to unify our currency with theirs and Canada?

Not a snowball's chance.

There would be no US dollar, Canadian dollar or Pesos but Amero. It can be a strong competitor against the Euro. However...that would mean sacrificing the US constitution and I don't want that.
