I've always hoped for a spin-off instead. Perhaps one of a modern-day simpleton that is magically transported to 1000 years in the future. Or a crime drama with Chief Wiggum that takes place in New Orleans.

That sounds like a fine name. Though I believe it's already taken by the 1939 New York World's Fair.

Well enough to warrant it staying on the air. Even once it finally finishes its run, the money it makes in syndication alone will keep Fox's coffers in the black for a VERY long time.

Maybe I'm alone in this way of thinking, but to me, even a sub par episode of The Simpsons (and there's no shortage of them) is still better than most of the other animated shows the network has been airing the past few years, and probably WILL air...for some reason, they're making a Napoleon Dynamite cartoon, and the shelf life for that movie has expired a long time ago.

It's going to be a mid-season replacement on Fox sometime next year, and it features the entire cast reprising their roles. In all honesty, they should've done this while the movie was still relevant, not seven years after it's been released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua17k1tidRE

Why would they even do that? The Simpsons Movie was the last good piece of Simpsons-related media; there's no need for the show to even exist at this point, much less having a whole channel dedicated to it.

If they had any real faith in this, it'd be somewhere in their fall lineup, but as it is, it's a mid-season replacement. It's just filler for when one of their regular programs are either on hiatus or cancelled.

meh.. as long as they played more of the older stuff i'd watch it.. the recent syndication run sucks because it pretty much only shows episodes from 2009 and on so you get repeats every other week.

So...if the Simpsons airs for 24 hours a day 7 days a week, how long would it be before they went through the entire series and ended up back at episode 1? This sounds like a terrible idea. But you know what? I'd probably put it on at night when I want to watch soething to go to sleep to.

I'm on board if it's the older episodes. There is comedy gold in all those and a channel dedicated to it would probably help revive the series... maybe.

I've come to realize that The Simpsons is now America's version of Saze-san. Which is to say that it will NEVER die and remain extremely popular among families if only because it's become too entrenched in the nation's culture for people to give-up. For those who don't know, Saze-san is a Japanese comic that's been in syndication since 1946 and which spawned an anime that began airing in 1969 and which is still seeing new episodes made today (they hit episode 3000 three years ago).
