My argument is this, the old fart shot him just cause they were new and despite the police proved that the kid had nothing to do with him shot him any way, so it was a young life wasted. I am for the death penalty with due caution, and while I have not read the facts of this case, it is quite possible that they should lead to the death penalty. I just get tired with everything being about race, particularly about how supposedly racist I must be for being white, and how anything done by whites to blacks must inherently be racist (and somehow or another, a racist murder or crime is worse than 'regular' one). People can just be plain evil, and that is where I see crime and violence coming from and racism is just a minor subset of that evil, and in my experience less common than hate, greed, or lust, but racism still gets all the news time, probably because it is easier to feel superior when you see racist crime (because many people are not racist), but more difficult when you just look at the fact we are all hateful, greedy, and lustful to varying degrees. Racism, while legitimate, has become a distraction and political ploy more often than not.

Obviously not everyone is out there pillaging, raping, and killing, but I think the kernel to all those actions is universal, even if the vast majority of people deny those urges or only indulge them in small ways. To clarify, I think we are all in the same boat in terms of usual source of evil, but not at all in the degree to which it takes hold of us, and the degree to which we are evil is open to influence from all sorts of things (upbringing, psychosis, etc.)
