To start off, I'm white. I prefer music of most every classification. I have quite a collection of Hip-Hop, Varieties of Rock, some old time Country, a bit of Classical, maybe a Hint of R&B, little bit of Motown, Techno-styles of all sorts and plenty more.
Most white folks my age usually have atleast half of my music list - mostly Hip Hop, Rock, Pop and probably some R&B.
My point is, most white folks, also Asians and Latins that I've ever known - share my variety of music preferences.
Trying to be as delicate as I can, I don't know of many Black People - possible a rare couple - that listen to anything else other than African-American Derived music. Primarily - Hip Hop, R&B, etc... Why not any other variety?
Never have I seen a black person listen to .. Say . .. Metallica, Enya, George Jones...
Further, I suppose this could be my lack of aquaintances of black folks? Im sure there are some African Americans that listen to a broad spectrum of music, not many. And I'm sure some blacks think the same about whites or other races, with thier musci tastes..?
So how bout it? Is there any truth to Black people not really in to other than Black cultural music?
