Its usually the soundtrack that gets me going and i found the soundtrack with death note was very good and fit well.dragonmaster64Yeah, the soundtrack was amazing. One of the best anime OST's ever released imo
Not to hate but death note is overrated :P Code Geass is really good, might aswell watch it and ifu don't like it far enough
everyone always says that Code Geass is similar but, IDK it just doesnt look like something I would like to watch. Death Note is amazing. Nengo_Flow
the story is similar. i don't mean the same. The show has little more action then death note but not much more. IF you thought death note was amazing you have to give it a chance.

They both revolve around a super genius "chess master" manipulator protagonist trying to reshape the world,
though Lelouch is a lot more interesting & likable protagonist than Light who devolves into emo with a god complex
and....
]actually accomplishes his goal unlike that failure Light
Which Code Geass should I start watching?
the full name is code geass: lelouch of the rebellion. This where you want to begin. there is like 25eps then there is code geass: lelouch of the rebellion R2 that is the second season also like 25eps. so 50eps all together.
animefreak is nice if you ever go to that website. they offer dub and sub.

Try Black Butler, you might like it, it's dark.Hellfire-1^^^ Manga is a lot darker, I was annoyed at how they lightened up some of the characters in the show.
Many anime surpass Death Note, Monster being one of them. You should stick with it, the first few episodes are pretty slow though. I stopped watching Death Note shortly after Mellow and the other guy came in, it just lost all creativity. Which was a shame because it started so strong but just fizzled out for me and I lost interest in it. Gungrave, Baccano!, Monster, Planetes, Welcome to the NHK, Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bepop, Gintama, Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, (disregarding the filler episodes), are all better in my humble opinion. Even Durarara!! was better than Death Note.

And yes, the manga is MUCH darker, and also very different from the anime. I love them both though, all the way up to the end of season 1. Then my love for the anime stops.

Same here. Even though the anime wasn't perfect, that ending just made the show for me. I couldn't think of a better way that show could have wrapped up
...and then they had to release another season which was no doubt sourced from a fangirls fanfiction
ugh

All right, thanks. The only one I can think are Code Geass and Monster but if you don't mind no action and a more psychological approach then Welcome to the NHK is great too. And if you don't mind reading mangas then also read Liar Game, one of the most superb mangas ever done.
Mirai Nikki (but it ended horribly)Chicken453Just gonna have to wait for season two and the space-time hammers. Oh joy. Also anime is the plural, no need for the s. Dunno what I would suggest that would be similar to what you're looking for OP. Maybe Steins;Gate?
Monster is definitely my favorite anime, I will say though it takes about 10 episodes to really draw you in. I haven't seen Death Note, but I think that Monster, Paprika, NGE, Kara no Kyoukai, Ghost in the Shell, Steins;Gate, and Serial Experiments Lain almost certainly rival or best it.Any animes that surpass death note or are similar.
