I've got a fairly extensive Blu-ray collection that I'm pretty proud of,about 145 movies, and my DVD collection which is mostly movies and a few shows but that's roughly like 300.That's not counting my smaller PS1, PS2, PS3, Gamecube, and Nintendo DS collection, which aren't anywhere near as large. Currently I'm DYING for Blu-ray releases of James Cameron classics like True Lies, The Abyss and Titanic (although I'm sure that'll only be out after the theatrical 3D release). Any other collectors? If so, how big is your collection? What movies are you waiting for or are most happy to own?

Somewhere around this for me. Little more. Buy movies I am interested in. Do not really go out of my way to add to my collection or such. Like my gaming habits.

Yeah, I have between 40 and 50 blu ray films. I don't buy DVDs anymore, if something is available on BD, I will buy it on BD over DVD

yeah just comparing a music cd from them to Best Buy, they charged $20 for most cd's while Best Buy charged around or less than $10

I think I've got 12 or 13 Blu rays. But over 435 DVD's last time I counted. My TV is 32" 720p; maybe if I get a 50" 1080p this summer I'll get more into Blu rays.

It's a bit different for something like FYE vs Best Buy. FYE dedicated stores like FYE are kinda have to charge a little higher as that's pretty much their only product more or less. Best Buy, on the other hand, uses cheap CDs as a bait to lure the customer in to the store in the hopes that they'll shop around and spend more money (maybe you'll even buy a new stereo to play your new CD on). With that said FYE were still seriously overpriced and deserved the fate that befell them.

I've got like fifteen films on blu ray I think. There's a couple films I have on DVD that I would like to get on blu ray, but I don't know if I can double dip just yet.

Blu-rays have gotten REALLY cheap and affordable in the past year. Newly released will run you around $25, and some with a digital copy around $40, but I always look for deals, i NEVER purchase new movies for anything over $20. I typically buy from sales at Target or Best Buy, or used on Amazon. Surprisingly DVD's can still be somewhat expensive, even though not only is the quality significantly lower, but now with these new recycable boxes, you get a flimspy piece of plastic to hold it in, and NO inserts whatsoever. i remember back like 5 to 7 years ago virtually ALL DVD's used to at least bring a chapter selection insert. Disney movies typically bring a tonof inserts, as well as special editions.

BD players aren't cheap but they aren't crazy expensive anymore either. You can get a good one for about $80. Even on a 32" HDtv, it still looks gorgeous.

I'm a huge Blu-Ray collector with hundreds of titles in my possession.

But what I like to do is take Blu-ray disks, extract the .BDMV files, and encode them with h.264 to make the Blu-ray disk a file on my computer.

That way I can:

1. Digitize my collection to save space, as my apartment has no room for storing Blu-ray disks.

2. Ensure that the disks will never get scratched / lost / broken.

3. Make new disks if I want to.

Too expensive.

I spent at least $1700 building my home theater and I frequently watch movies to justify having one lol. Building a collection would just be too expensive. (plus it's messy when you have a lot.)Netflix rentals: $15 a month for 2 discs at a time is just too conveinent.

Blue-Sky

That's why I like to digitize mine.

Having a virtual library is much, much more convenient then having hundreds / thousands of disks lying around.

It's also much easier to organize.

At last count when I was adding to my film collection spreadsheet (before Christmas) I was over 650 Blu-Rays. And I own every Criterion release on Blu-Ray...pre-order soon as they're announced, & Amazon ships the day they're released. Very eagerly awaiting La Haine in May.

DVD Profiler says 368. There's probably 10 or so I haven't added yet.

Latest purchase was The Conversation with Gene Hackman.

I'd love to buy that (my favorite Gene Hackman film) but unfortunately my PS3 is region A and the blu-ray is region locked. Its too expensive for me to import too :( I am also annoyed at the news that the Arrow release of King of New York (steelbook too!) will be region locked. I think its about time I invested in a region free player.
