Dune books, Dune movie, dune games....legendary

I still remember playing Dune and Dune2 on windows 3.1 with the crappy sound and all...love it...

Dune 2000 was a big disappointment and i think there might have been another but i forgot now...

So whos a Dune fan here too?

Never read the books but the dune movie a legend? No. Never. Ever. It was horrible. I honestly felt like smashing my head against a brick wall to see if it was actually a dream.

If watched as its own thing completely divorced from the books, it has quite a bit of campy charm

I've read the first 5 books, and I'm skeptical of the new movie because the old one was pretty bad, but I'll probably see it anyway.

I'm a pretty big Dune fan. I even remember a lot of the games you mentioned and still have them.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Dune. I have all the books and related movies. The Dune movie made in 1984 may not be the best sci-fi movie, but I really like the touch that David Lynch brought to the film.

Admittedly, it did slow down in the middle, especially Messiah, but God-Emperor gave it new steam and Heretics (in my opinion) almost outshone the original.

Ive read the original series of books like 20 times.

The son, Brian Herbet, wrote another 3 series or so. They were not anything like the originals, but the lore is there so I enjoyed it.

One series dealt with the Butlerian Jihad, essentially a vast war between man and machine taking place thousands of years before the original Dune. These books were not too great, and the son's sense of gore is really detailed and I'd be lying if I didnt enjoy it but it does no honor to Frank Herbert, the original author.

Another series (the House series, i.e. House Atreides, House Harkonnen, House Corrino) spans a couple decades before the original Dune. These were all right.

Then the son concluded the original Dune series his father wrote with Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. I thought they were pretty good.

The two Scifi miniseries, Dune and Children of Dune, were really really good. Just watch them expecting a play, and not a full-blown movie. Chani is a babe, too. Meeeeeeeeeeeow

The original 1984 flick (with Sting!) was only good if you knew the book, and if you knew the book chances are you were pissed with the many, ginormous changes they made to it.

I absolutely love the Dune saga! I have read the first 7 books and was completely blown away. One of the best SciFi series I have read to date.
