I must say, as an atheist, I LOVE Christmas time. I love the atmosphere, the weather, being with my family and the gifts...
Not the religious part obviously :P

I'm not an atheist, I'm agnostic, but I like Christmas time because:
- I love the smell of the trees. :)
- I like to see little kids happy and smiling, playing with their new toys. :D
- Christmas parties, especially the ones where sexy girls dress up in little Santa's helper costumes.
- I always get money as a gift from my family. :P
Does anybody celebrate it for the religious part anymore???canary7
me! I probably go to church twice that weekend. Sometimes more. It's a great time of year.

I must say, as a Christian, I HATE Christmas time. I hate the atmosphere and the consumerism.... but I like the weather and being with my family.
:P
Christime time means...
- the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ :)

Your savior, not our savior. :|
And he wasn't even born on Dec. 25th anyway! :?
When youre a parent, youll learn to hate christmas. We usually spend the next 5 months paying off the credit cards we use for the presents. God I wish Santa was real.

I recognize Christ as my Saviour, but Christmas in its origin was a bunch of pagan traditions, and still today has little to do with the true meaning of the coming of Christ.
And yes, the December 25th has more to do with Roman, Mesopotamic and Babylonic celebrations of the birth of their own 'divinities' than with the brith of Christ.
Why wouldn't they? It's pretty much a secular holiday now anyway...
But yes, as an atheist, I do like Christmas time.
I'm a Christian and have no problem with non-Christians celebrating Christmas so long as they do not stop me from celebrating how I'd like and they let me and others say Merry Christmas.mindstorm
As long as you extend the same understanding, everything is fine.
I hate the part of Christmas where I can't say "Merry Christmas" in fear of offending someone.
I seriously don't get what's so offensive about that sentence.
harashawn
I have yet known one person that was offended by the saying "Merry Christmas". In fact, I've known more people offended when someone else says "Happy Holidays".
Have you noticed that no one says it on TV anymore? That's because people got offended.
harashawn
No, but I don't watch the regular TV programs other than say FOX.

I hate that. :x
There's my point. I don't know many atheists that get offended at being told "Merry Christmas". I think the people who have started this "War Against Christmas" would be the secularists who take every little detail seriously.
