Just thought of another classic - Night of the Hunter. Robert Mitchum, 1955. It's not your usual scary movie. More like Cape Fear (the original) but better. I defy anyone to watch it at night and not get creeped out.
I've always thought there were two kinds of horror movies. "Horror" - lots of blood, slashing, jumping out and scaring and "Terror" - creepy scratching at the door, lots of tension, waiting for the 'bad' to happen. (Just my 2 cents)
