When I say gifted I mean like academically. Where you have a special class or classes that are only for you and other gifted students. Myself, I spent the entire day at another school on Thursdays in elementary school for gifted, then in middle school I had gifted in place of english and history. I'm not taking any sort of gifted class in high school because I'm tired of being labeled as "the gifted kid". So... after all that rambling, is/was anybody here "gifted"?

Alex3796

Could you specifiy further? This year (10th grade) I'm in Cambridge classes and dual enrolled at a local community college. Does that make me gifted? Because it was more or less hard work that got me there.

I mean like when you were younger, you took a test where you had to score in something like the 98th percentile I believe, and if you passed you got accepted into the "gifted" community. In my opinion, anybody can be "gifted" if they apply themselves. Like you, for instance.

Awh shucks, you're so kind! Thank you for that complement!

But anyways, I took one of those tests, didn't quite make it. I made it into some half-gifted thing. It's hard to describe... But that was only for Elementary. Then I got asked in middle school to join the NJHS, but I declined out of laziness. I think being called "gifted" is overrated either way. REAL MEN apply themselves to their fullest. They don't just get a free plane ride to smartness-ville.

...Not trying to offend anyone of course!

My middle school's NJHS program was a joke. We met once a month, and we at cookies and drank Capri-Sun the entire time, no joke. We never did anything productive.

This pretty much describes every honor and "merit" society ever. Even the creator of MENSA lamented that the group had just turned out to be a place for people to do logic puzzles and boost their egos rather than be the force for world improvement like he had hoped it would be.

In grade school, yes. My elementary school was small and catholic though, so we had no program for the high IQ end of the scale, but we had two special ed classes. In 6th grade I would do my math work, homework, help the other kids with theirs and then do some 9th grade math work. By middle school I started to not care and by high school I did no work but stayed on the honour role every semester. Lack of work ethic bit me in the ass first year at university though XD

Gifted? I dunno. But I definitely have an aptitude for learning new things when I apply myself.

I was considered to be 'gifted' in the creative / academic sense all through my school years... today, 25 years after graduating from high school with full honors, I have turned out to be arguably the biggest culturally deprived under-achieving imbecile on earth... so much for being 'gifted'!
