Cops suck. Their job is to f*** with people.
Worst of all is the "blue wall of silence"... If you were walking down the street with your friends and one of them decided to rob a house, and the rest of you decided to look the other way while he did it, you would all be just as guilty as the one who did the crime.
Cops know when another officer breaks the law, it's their job to know That's what they do for a living. That's why there's no such thing as a good cop, they know when other cops cross the line and they say nothing. I don't trust a single one of them.
They cover for each other, they deny knowledge when it could get their "brother" in trouble. They're no better than a gang member.
My brother is a cop. I acknowledge him at family gatherings, but that's as far as it goes. Once you become a cop, you enter your own world, apart from the rules of society. Nobody fully trusts you except your fellow cops. I've seen a cop arrest his own father, but God forbid, he arrest a fellow officer for breaking the law.

You have no idea how much overgeneralizing you are doing. Yea, I'm a cop, like the job. I bet if you were a cop you would know what really goes on within the department. You wouldn't know of all the secret internal investigations that go on within departments. I should know, I've seen them go on. Of course no one hears of these. That's fine, don't trust cops, you don't have to trust them, they won't trust you. Fact is, being a police officer is a job of authority, there is always going to be people who hate authority, that's fine. I would like you to put on uniform one day and automatically be hated by a majority of people for no other reason for labeling a cop as you do. Keep the hate flowing Hitle....I mean Slapshot.

Have you ever lied to a suspect during the course of an investigation? Have you ever seen another officer lie to a suspect? It's not illegal. God forbid a suspect lies to you though.
Like my previous example. If my friend robs a house while I look the other way, I'm just as guilty as he is. If you have ever seen an officer cross the line and said nothing, you are no better than he is.
When the State of NY starts monitoring, investigating, and punishing officers who break the law (not just the ones who make the news) then I might open up a bit, but as long as yours remains a secret society I shall retain my prejudice without shame
Oh yea, have you ever used a weapon against an unarmed person? Coward. "but, but, it's for OUR safety" ANY GROWN MAN WHO USES ANY KIND OF WEAPON ON AN UNARMED PERSON IS A COWARD.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. If you look the other way while your friend robs a house YOU ARE AT FAULT TOO! You are basically allowing your "friend" to commit a crime, and I'm pretty sure that constitues as conspiracy. And, if a police officer uses a weapon its USSUALLY for good reason. When you are in a hightened state of alert, and somebody reachers for "something" from their pocket really fast, your raction is to kill or be killed - this is the way it goes. And you ASSUME all cops are corrupt. You base this on absolutely no evidence other than the fact that you live in NY. Well guess what bud, I live in NY too (Queens to be exact) and Im not using it as an excuse to make sweeping generalizations.

Obviously reading comprehension wasn't on the civil service test.... My point was that if you have knowledge that a crime is occurring and you do nothing about it, then you are just as guilty as the person who is committing the crime. Police officers observe each other all the time, yet not a single one of them reports a crime that was committed by a fellow officer.
BTW, and you should know this, Tazers, batons, and pepper spray are considered weapons in the eyes of the law, not just guns..... I'm beginning to question whether or not you really are a police officer if this obvious fact escaped your notice.

He is viewed as less than dirt, nobody talks to him, nobody socializes with him, and being that he has already ostracised the rest of society, it's like a living hell. No cop will ever rat out another cop because of this.

I think you are a little too innocent for your own good. So there are a couple of incidents of corruption by police officers, but guess what...corruption exists everywhere! There is corruption in the government, between buisinesses, between neighbors, W/E! Corruption is a part of human nature and it is something we must learn to live with. If a few officers cross the line, then like any criminal, they should be punished. On the other hand, accusing all cops of corruption is just plain idiotic and totally discredits you.Â

Two words.... more restrictionsGreat, lets have more restrictions so more degenerates and street thugs can run rampant, terrorizing innocent civilians while a police officer's "restrictions" prevent him/her from doing what they must to stop the criminal.Â
My point is that police officers are trained to detect when a person has crossed the line. They know when a complete stranger has crossed the line and you're telling me that they don't know when their own partners do? They have knowledge of crimes being committed by their fellow officers and they do nothing about it, making them just as guilty as the person who knows that his friend is robbing a house.I think you are a little too innocent for your own good.
Choga
Current gun laws make criminals out of previously law-abiding citizensGreat, lets have more restrictions so more degenerates and street thugs can run rampant, terrorizing innocent civilians while a police officer's "restrictions" prevent him/her from doing what they must to stop the criminal.Â

[QUOTE="Choga"]My point is that police officers are trained to detect when a person has crossed the line. Gun laws have nothing to do with it. My point is that a police officer should do everything in his/her power to stop a criminal in the act of commiting a crime (theft, assault, battery, mandslaughter, etc). I cant tell you the countless number of times I've seen these "thugz" get away with a crime due to lack of police officers patroling an area.Â
[QUOTE="Choga"]Again, your assuming that all police officers are guilty of this, when in fact, most cops probably DO NOT cross the line. SIapshotWhich is of course, an assumption. Only my assumption is based in reported fact.
Agreed, ownage admitted. But frankly, we both should not be making these assumptions, reported fact or not. If one, or two, or even 10 cops do this, it does not mean that every single cop is guilty of this. Â

And you would be wrong. It is illegal for a police officer to shoot an unarmed person who is not "deemed" a threat. It is illegal for a police officer to administer a "choke hold" on a suspect. A police officer CANNOT do "everything" in his power to stop a person, especially when that person hasn't hurt anybody and poses no threat to anybody. What you are advocating is absolute power.

Again, I refer to my previous post, where knowledge implies guilt. If a police officer is ignorant of his fellow officer's criminal actions, then I say he or she is not fit to be a police officer, and if a police officer is knowledgeable of their fellow officer's criminal actions, yet reports nothing, then they are just as guilty.[QUOTE="Choga"][QUOTE="SIapshot"][QUOTE="Choga"]Current gun laws make criminals out of previously law-abiding citizensGreat, lets have more restrictions so more degenerates and street thugs can run rampant, terrorizing innocent civilians while a police officer's "restrictions" prevent him/her from doing what they must to stop the criminal.

No sir, I'm advocating justice. I dont know what part of NY you live in, but if you have ever been down to the Queensbridge projects, you would see alot of scum that deserve to be arrested. People I know get jumped all the time for their belongings and its ussually by the same person/people. Not only that, but its hard to go to sleep at night hearing gunfire! Police should be allowed to do everything in their power to stop these cancers of society, because they DO pose a threat to your average, law-abiding citizen. Â

No, in my original post, I imply that all cops are guilty of the same crimes committed by rogue officers because of the very fact that they overwhelmingly DO NOT report fellow officers. See? that's exactly what I'm talking about. Your friends aren't allowed to defend themselves with the same weapons police officers use to ensure their own safety. God forbid one of your friends shoots back, he's going to jail. But put a badge on his chest and he can get away with murder.

No, in my original post, I imply that all cops are guilty of the same crimes committed by rogue officers because of the very fact that they overwhelmingly DO NOT report fellow officers. Again, if a cop is ignorant of a fellow officer's illegal actions, then that person is not fit to be a police officer, and if that cop is knowledgeable of his fellow officer's actions yet doesn't report it, then he is just as guilty.Either way, there is no way to prove "the very fact that they overwhelmingly DO NOT report fellow officers", so point is moot. Once special by the Washington Post is no doubt evidence that this stuff goes on, but not proof that it happens in overwhelming numbers. Â

So now your advocating civilians taking the law into their own hands? This will never work because there will be people who take it too far, and then we will be living in a state of total anarchy. Now before you go comparing this situation to your "Blue Wall of Silence", police officers answer to the government, while in a state of total anarchy, civilians asnwer to nobody.Â
