It's one of those problems that doesn't sound like an actual problem. Then you start hearing stories about the consequences of that fake sounding problem, and you slowly realize how wrong you were.

The consequences of bullying is on the victims, they can choose to let it affect them or not. In a land where this is freedom of speech (if you live in the US), you have to take the good with the bad, otherwise that prilevage will not last.

I think it's a psychological issue and certainly everyone is affected differently.

If what happened on the internet stayed on the internet, I'd completely agree that cyber-bullying is a joke. However, too often what happens on social websites spills over into the school and social lives of the teenagers. Truth be told, it doesn't even have to be the victim on Facebook to do the damage. Someone making a fake account can do plenty of damage to the victim's reputation at a school. Furthermore, moving to a new school isn't even guaranteed to help much anymore; what's said on the internet is often permanent, and the internet is very effective at pulling people together. If someone was interested in finding out why you moved to a new school, it's not that hard to find your old classmates online.

despite being sympathetic towards the victims, i dont know why would someone get bullied by a bunch of text. i know that some other forms include publishing pics and other stuff but that is not my point.

I don't understand why its so hard to just ignore the morons and better yet, stop freaking caring what other people say / think about you.

meeting an @sshole online isn't new, and people should expect it more so on the internet then in person, thanks to internet anonymity.

having to be constantly harassed whether by some bully you don't know online, or someone at - say school - who is still harassing you online. should not be put up with, nor should those being harassed be told to simply 'grow a thicker skin'.

It's not a case of over-sensitivity.

Constantly harassing people, will get to them. and we know that some awful things have already happened.

and maybe it's just me, but i have a hard time even empathizing with such bullies, why do they feel need to act such a way?

from what i gather it's some moral character deficiency, or some misplaced righteousness.

I know people say people are weak nowadays, and to some extent i see what those people are saying. Still the point stands, generations ago, people didn't have the internet, or cells. once upon a time people had to deal with each other face to face, and with that - even if you were being bullied - was a tleast some chance of reprecussions from authority figures (be it parents, teachers, or even strangers who see the BS going down).
