Yeah, my friend who says she's a Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Metallica fan yet she doesn't know who Eddie is, she can't name a single song by Iron Maiden, and she can't name a single album by Iron Maiden or Megadeth.Juggernaut140
Tell her to stop being a poserish, and give her some knowledge of the music if she really enjoys it. Its better to teach people about the music instead of shunning them away, thus preventing stereotypes little by little at least.
That doesn't annoy me as much as the people who will call someone a "poser" just because they play Guitar Hero.Twiggiy
Yeah that gets annoying too. That'd be the same as calling someone a poser for playing a sports game.

I asked her questions about Iron Maiden (cool sig by the way) she got them all wrong and I gave her the answers to each question. (Who Eddie is, first album, etc.)
I get annoyed with death metal posers. Me and my friends find it a funny joke to just call every death metal poser we see a scene kid. We've pissed some people off with it for fun. I have to say it was hilarious. Only those who know what im talking about will find it funny.Squire_Ramza
Did they claim they were fans of actual Death Metal bands, or were they just fans of deathcore or some other such crap?
[QUOTE="R-Dot-Yung"]I've never come across people who pose to be hardcore fans of bandsLJS9502_basicI haven't either... Neither have I...what's the point?

If you met any of the scene kids around the SF bay area where I live, You'd understand in about 5 minutes but yea, they're all Deathcore fans who say they love brutal music and cant even name anything. I can't wait for the scene to die. Take your crummy over used breakdowns back, and hardcore dancing makes you look like a jack ass:x
I would have to say elitists ae far worse than posers.
ill take a poser ANYDAY over an elitist. elitists should probably focus on getting a life
Yeah, this annoys me too. The thing I really hate is people who are like "Oh dude I love (insert band here)!" but only know their songs that are on Guitar Hero...I love Guitar Hero, but people who only listen to Guitar Hero music annoy meThat reminds me of one of my friends. I looked through his Ipod and he only had Guitar Hero songs from nearly every band.
SirFrosty
It's the exact opposite for me. People who like a band but only know 1 or 2 songs, that's their business. But the wierdos who obsess about a band, and talk about them the way regular people talk about their favourite sports team, annoy me. Like those people who like Megadeth and thus automatically hate Metallica because of the friction between the bands, or vice versa. I'm thinking "It's not sports, it's music, get over yourself". I had a mate who would go all fanboy on me about some band or singer compared to one I would like, and I was like "who cares?" It's just a band. These elitist types make CONSOLE FANBOYS look rational. And that's something. :D

thats a bit of a stretch
The only people I've ever run into like that are the people who claim to be DragonForce fans because they heard Through the Fire and the Flames off of Guitar Hero 3 and think it's the coolest song ever. And they only annoy me because they all try and talk to me about how awesome the song is because I'm a DragonForce fan, even though I don't even like that song.MetroidPrimePwn
To be fair though once you've heard one Dragonforce song you've pretty much heard them all.
