No I love college and my university. My only complaint is that the professors and most students are way too liberal. Very close minded individuals. Vuurk

Haha, yeah lol liberal and close minded typically is an oxymoron unless they are just reciting talking points.

I believe that both liberals and neo conservatives are very close minded. Of course liberals think they are the progressive and open-minded individuals though. =P Talk to a liberal about fiscal policy or talk to a neo conservative about religion or foreign policy. You will see what I mean. Ah yes everyone is close minded except for you and everyone who thinks like you.[QUOTE="Vuurk"][QUOTE="LazerTurtle"]I believe that both liberals and neo conservatives are very close minded. Ah yes everyone is close minded except for you and everyone who thinks like you. while i don't agree with his whole statement, i think he obviously has a point about fiscal policy. if you actually look at the works of economists, most are capitalistic. the most famed economist the world has ever seen, milton friedman, was a hardcore capitalist.Haha, yeah lol liberal and close minded typically is an oxymoron unless they are just reciting talking points.

Liberal is not mutually exclusive from libertarian so you can be a liberal and not be in favor of a progressive income tax etc.
I might actually be a progressive liberal but idk.
Conservatives are a minority to be fair so they feel threatened.

who is then, Karl Marx?
Ah yes everyone is close minded except for you and everyone who thinks like you. I just think that people who classify themselves based on a strict political party are close minded. I am a huge critic of the two party system. I wish that people could formulate their own opinions for each individual issue rather than aligning with the ideas of our two party system and bi-polar media. What do political parties have to do with anything you said before? You weren't talking about democrats and republicans, you were talking about liberals and neo conservatives.[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"][QUOTE="Vuurk"] I believe that both liberals and neo conservatives are very close minded. Whoever it is, it's certainly not Milton Friedman.who is then, Karl Marx?

He was a very influential economist - one of the most influential of the latter half of the 20th century - but you're smoking something strong if you think he's the "most famed economist the world has ever seen"
Do tell.I was not in the mental state to stay at my university as it was not the best place for me at the time. I liked the university to a certain degree but I am haunted by painful memories.

Trying to label a single economist as "most famed" is patently absurd.[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"]Whoever it is, it's certainly not Milton Friedman.[QUOTE="kingkong0124"]

I think he is among the top 5 unquestionably. Who would you consider to be the most famous/influential economists? The question of "most influential" economists is a little hard to pin down, namely because there are many different fields of economists. For example, how do you compare the influence in the field of game theory to influence in econometrics?

I'm referring to overall. I'd consider people such as Hayek, Friedman, Keynes, Von Mises, Adam Smith to be among the most influential. Regardless you can not discount Friedman's contribution to the field.I don't discount Friedman's influence - I have very high respect for him.
My point was that "overall" influence can be difficult to quantify, and that influence on specific fields can be incredibly important.
I'm only at my technical college for 2 years (4 semesters) and then will move on to get some job, then maybe go back and further my degree (or w/e, I'm not entirely sure how everything works...), or go to another college/university.
But I love my college. The teachers (for once) trully seem like they give as much of a sh!t about anyone (as long as the student is willing to get the help) as they do their own children. You can get help with pretty much any problem (maybe except emotional problems, but I don't need that lol).
I also love the freedom I pretty much have (can listen to my music really whenever I want, and use my laptop when needed, but some teachers still don't like it when you use your phone in class).
Though the classes may progressively get harder (especially if the math classes keep moving up), I think I will make it through ok :).
