This year I wasn't really into it. I couldn't care less about the teams. The commericals I saw weren't that great either.

I'm exactly like that. Don't see the big deal. But before the SB started I had a gut feeling that the Packers were going to win, even though I never, EVER watch football and couldn't give a s*** about any teams. :|

I like watching NCAA Football and the NFL, but Steelers vs. Packers is the worst match-up for me. Roethlisberger is a rapist and deserves life in prison...and I hate the Packers since I'm from Chicago. It's a lose-lose situation.

i've heard that argument plenty of times. that football players are meat heads and that its boring because its a simple concept. most people dont understand how much preparation and strategy is involved. i think it involves more strategy and thinking than any other sport out there

I guess I fall into this category. Being an Englishman that lives in Australia pretty much ensures that it's not on my radar at all. Care factor of 0 :P

I only watch for the commercials. The only team I like are the Chiefs, but I doubt they'll see a Super Bowl any time soon.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's an annoyance, but I don't really take an interest in sports, so I don't participate in what is basically considered a national holiday.

We won. So I'm now really really happy.

Sorry but not everyone likes American football. And we have something called opinions :|

I kind of agree with X360, this thread has a loaded question and it's almost showing off how cool it is to dislike something popular. If the NFL and college football werent the most popular sport in America, then more people on OT would like it more because it's cool and different from what everyone else likes.

I understand we have many posters from all over the country, but no one is starting threads like, "Ugh soccer, it's so popular all over the world, ugh so slow and boring, don't you guys agree?" I don't care for soccer, but I see the appeal and get how so many people love it.

I care. The last couple Superbowls including this one were fun to watch. I still put the World Cup ahead of it but I definitely wouldn't miss a Super Bowl.

Or maybe some people just genuinely don't care for the Super Bowl since everyone tends to make a big deal about it?

Maybe some people are just genuinely uninterested. Just because something's popular doesn't mean it has to appeal to everyone, and it doesn't mean the people who dislike it are trying to be different. I don't see the appeal to football. Honestly, I find it pretty damn boring. I would feel that way whether it was popular or not.

Well, I certainly think it is overhyped. It is not like the game means anything wen it comes down to it. The best team hardly ever wins. I hate the Patriots, but they had the best team, this year. If the Jets didn't catch them on a bad day, no doubt they would have won it all.

What I said actually had some semblance of truth, because football is rigidly timed.

But yours didn't.

Nills

This^^^^^^^^^. It seems many things popular are shunned or disliked by the OT. It's as if the OT is comprised of hermit-like recluses who see popular culture as an annoyance, crying out that anything overly commercial or anything very hyped is bad.

At the end of the day the Superbowl is the most watched event of the year. No matter what anybody here says, the NFL is a major sport in America and is one of the most watched things in the country.

Sports seem to get dismissed by geeks. Maybe it's the mentality of a lot of the fans who watch. I'll admit some people need to just cool it with the whole sports craze, but in a world where the average person doesn't do much special in their lives that get noticed by millions, big sports in all countries of all types give people something to look forward to. Sports across the world bring people together in a common goal. This is why athletes are so well paid, we put our faith in them to entertain us.

Maybe it's because a lot of geeks really have a hard time associating themselves with the masses. I don't know. I used to be very apathetic towards sports as I am not very athletic myself. However as I get older I find myself more drawn to them and more wiling to play a pick up game whenever I get a chance. There is something that draws me in.

I guess if my team wasn't apart of the Superbowl I wouldn't care as much, but I would probably watch it with a bunch of friends and have a good time.

well if they were the best team they would have won when it mattered. packers were the best team this year from top to bottom and they proved it.

Then why were they the 6th seed?

Because Ryan Grant got injured and they had no ground game until they discovered a guy that can run (Starks) against the Eagles in the wild card game.

Also, the Pats got by with a below average defense because they have the best QB in football. That stuff catches up eventually, the top defenses make the superbowl for the most part.

Not interested whatsoever. I can't even pretend to care. It wouldn't be annoying if fans of whatever teams involved weren't constantly making a spectacle of themselves.

I like watching NCAA Football and the NFL, but Steelers vs. Packers is the worst match-up for me. Roethlisberger is a rapist and deserves life in prison...and I hate the Packers since I'm from Chicago. It's a lose-lose situation.

I hear that Green Day beat up some stealers or something. That's good because stealing is bad.

It was on BBC1, I watched a bit of it. The only good thing about it is that there were no adverts  BBC doesn't show adverts.
