Anyone Else Noticed A Rise In Soccer Popularity?

This year it seems to be a lot bigger thing now. Anyone else seem this is true?

Honestly, it could not really get any lower in the US, so it had to go up.

There is no rise in the US. ESPN got the rights to air it here in the states so they just advertise it like crazy. The ratings are lower than an infomercials.

It's because the US has a decent team and a very recognised player (donovan for those who don't know)

I have not noticed a rise in popularity but I would not be surprised. The FIFA world cup is being hosted in Africa for the first time ever and it does not happen every year.

People say this EVERY World Cup, and after every single World Cup the US goes back to not caring about soccer at all.

Soccer is always popular in the rest of the world, so I'm assuming this thread means for the US.

The only thing i dont understand about Americans is how the most boring sport in the world, baseball, is more popular than soccer.

World Series is just as boring, but it isn't nearly as big. :P

Maybe when it comes to people playing it, but viewing popularity in MLS and other leagues hasn't had any huge shifts besides the new teams like Seattle. It's World Cup time though.

It's only natural. Soccer (football) is a worldwide phenomenon, unlike overpadded Yank football, akin to Rugby with p**sy padding.
