Of course, I'm a football nut, and the World Cup is the greatest football showpiece on earth.
I'm interested to see how we (England) do this time around. I think we may actually have a chance to win it, or at least make it to the later stages (Semis or Final).
But if I was a betting man, I'd have to put it on Spain. Or, if Domenech gets the sack, then France will almost certainly reach the final. Ditto Argentina with Maradona. Both teams have some of the best players in the world, but are let down by awful management...

couldn´t agree more with you, I actually thought argentina would win the world cup but the day they signed maradona I knew they wouldn´t and I simply can´t understand how france hasn´t fired domenech yet, and they do have some awesome players, a long time ago I thought they would be the best national team in some years (thanks to nasri, gourcouff, benzema, ribery and many more) but domenech got even crazier than he already was and ruined everything
about england I think that not qualifying to the euro 2008 was lone of the best things that heppened to them, because they won´t get to the world cup as favorites and they got capello, too bad they made such a good qualifying round, if theywouldn´t have been so good in the qualifying round I´d say england would win the world cup but everyone is starting to see england as a huge threat now
nice to find someone who knows their football on here....
I think that probably player-for-player, France are second only to Spain right now. And even then I think it's quite a close-run thing. I really hope they meet at some point in the tournament, that would be an epic match. I think Argentina are something of a dark horse, everyone has ruled them out already because of Maradona, but I reckon come the actual tournament they could do pretty well. And lets not forget Brazil, who are always pretty formidable in the big tournaments. But I keep coming back to that Spanish team....in every position they have a player who is one of, if not THE best in his role....Torres, Villa, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Casillas, Puyol.....I think they will turn out to be TOO good for everyone else.
I agree with you about England. Not qualifying made us take a look at our team in a realistic way, and the players themselves were disavowed of any illusions of grandeur they may have had. Getting Capello was a masterstroke, he isn't impressed by celebrity or self-appointed superstars. All that matters to him is on-pitch performance and getting results. With this new attitude, and with Rooney as our spearhead, I think we have a very good chance to progress. But I do fear that we will crumble when we meet the big teams who, like you said, have now realised we are a serious threat. Maybe it would have been better if we were still wolves in sheep's clothing...
