I watched the World Cup Group Drawings and there was some excitement on my part to see the Groups. Im from Mexican descent and it was quite exciting to see that Mexico would play South Africa as the opening game,I just can't wait forthis World Cup to start! The grouping seems to have been fair since the seven highest ranked teams in the world can no longer be in the same group nor can countries from same pool be in the same group

Final Grouping

If Mark Paston commands his area as well as he did in qualifying, they might cause a shock or two. Otherwise, AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!

I'm quite excited for it. Canada hasn't qualified since 1986 but I still root for France and the US.

Funny moment when France was drawn as the last team of Group A. I was watching the drawings through the Mexican network and the commentators were very happy that Mexico had been drawn in the Group with South Africa. One of the commentators said, " If we avoid France or Portugal being drawn into our group, we might have it pretty good." Well, next thing you know it, France is drawn into Group A the commentator screams "Nooo!" It was quite funny and i just think that he shouldhave just hold his breath on that one.

personally, I dont mind having France in the same group as Mexico, just as long as what happened to Ireland gets repeated lol

France wouldn't be the country to be worried about the most I think. Especially after how they qualified.

Hypothetically speaking, if the US were to win the world cup, do you think it'd put football on the map as a sport to take serious? I know atleast we'd take them more serious.

I actually went out and bought a soccer PS2 game during the last World Cup. I'm sad to report I sold it back after the final. I'll get World Cup fever again though, no worries.

No, I'm dissapointed by France and the way they were qualified (Henry cheated by scoring with a double hand). I am currently without a team to support :(.

Oh, but of course! Too bad Poland won't be playing there, but, oh well - we were uber-lame in the qualifiers, so.. :P

Mochyc - why is it such a big deal with Henry's hand? Yeah, it happened, it was referee's mistake, but there is no point in stopping cheering on any team because of this incident. In almost every year there are more or less evident tricks like pretending being fouled and so on, so, believe me, Henry's hand was nothing compared to some cases the soccer has already experienced :)

tbh I don´t see italy getting past the quarter finals, I used to support them, in 2002 and 2006, I was probably the only guy I knew who said italy would win the world cup but now they suck and they proved it in the confederations cup

Of course, I'm a football nut, and the World Cup is the greatest football showpiece on earth.

I'm interested to see how we (England) do this time around. I think we may actually have a chance to win it, or at least make it to the later stages (Semis or Final).

But if I was a betting man, I'd have to put it on Spain. Or, if Domenech gets the sack, then France will almost certainly reach the final. Ditto Argentina with Maradona. Both teams have some of the best players in the world, but are let down by awful management...

couldn´t agree more with you, I actually thought argentina would win the world cup but the day they signed maradona I knew they wouldn´t and I simply can´t understand how france hasn´t fired domenech yet, and they do have some awesome players, a long time ago I thought they would be the best national team in some years (thanks to nasri, gourcouff, benzema, ribery and many more) but domenech got even crazier than he already was and ruined everything

about england I think that not qualifying to the euro 2008 was lone of the best things that heppened to them, because they won´t get to the world cup as favorites and they got capello, too bad they made such a good qualifying round, if theywouldn´t have been so good in the qualifying round I´d say england would win the world cup but everyone is starting to see england as a huge threat now

nice to find someone who knows their football on here....

I think that probably player-for-player, France are second only to Spain right now. And even then I think it's quite a close-run thing. I really hope they meet at some point in the tournament, that would be an epic match. I think Argentina are something of a dark horse, everyone has ruled them out already because of Maradona, but I reckon come the actual tournament they could do pretty well. And lets not forget Brazil, who are always pretty formidable in the big tournaments. But I keep coming back to that Spanish team....in every position they have a player who is one of, if not THE best in his role....Torres, Villa, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Casillas, Puyol.....I think they will turn out to be TOO good for everyone else.

I agree with you about England. Not qualifying made us take a look at our team in a realistic way, and the players themselves were disavowed of any illusions of grandeur they may have had. Getting Capello was a masterstroke, he isn't impressed by celebrity or self-appointed superstars. All that matters to him is on-pitch performance and getting results. With this new attitude, and with Rooney as our spearhead, I think we have a very good chance to progress. But I do fear that we will crumble when we meet the big teams who, like you said, have now realised we are a serious threat. Maybe it would have been better if we were still wolves in sheep's clothing...

Seriously though I'm not excited but I'll watch some. Here is hoping it isn't a pile of diving and poor sportsmanship like I saw in the last one.

Some of the most exciting matches I've ever seen have been 0-0 draws... There's more to it than the final scoreline. Often the drama that unfolds, the great saves and defending, the narrow misses and spurned chances, and the edge of your seat tension involved in a really close 0-0 game are much more entertaining than when one team goes 2-0 up early on and then nothing else happens.

Again...a game with a 0-0 score can be more exciting than a game with lots of goals....but I don't expect you to understand that.
