This certainly doesn't encourage me to get an Apple product. I was never encouraged to begin with, however.

I don't care. Practically every company jumps on whatever bandwagon Apple starts.SolidSnake35
The important thing being that other companies like HTC do it much better and cheaper.

Neither is true, Apple Screen for iPhone 4 is the best and tablets are still the best and oh yeah iPod was really good too. I am not sure why people are so in rage about this, They violated patents and they will pay for them nuff said.

My Desire S is faster than an iPhone 4. Apple created very vague patents early on that now stop better hardware manufacturers from competing. That's annoying for me as a consumer.

They did not create a vague patent, vague patents do not get approved also just having a faster hardware doesn't guarantee crap look at DS vs PSP.

Yet my point was just as relevant as your comment about the screen. Looking at the patents there's very little that would indicate that HTC would have broken patents any more than other smart phone manufacturers. However they happen to be the easiest target of the large Android manufacturers so they got sued first. Any patent that hinders legitimate competition is stupid (this is true about a lot of the s*** MS has been pulling too).

Patents also cost millions of dollars to develop and the companies need to recoup those losses and while it sucks that patents make life harder for competitors, they still have chance to come out with things that get around it, or they can also get a license for it.
