It wasn't me that said debit cards were greater than cash. Stating that does imply that you do not know that.

Debit cards are greater than cash simply because I have to carry less stuff around with me in my wallet and I get Air Miles rewards and other points.
Think what you must. I am not gonna argue with ua over it. Just tell everyone how great they are when a retailer charges you a fee for using a debit card for a small transaction (under $10 and I have seen places where that is happening now).
If a retailer is charging you to use debit then you should stop using that retailer. I prefer debit or credit over cash because if I lose my wallet or it is stolen a phone call is all I need to cancel my cards and get new ones in the mail. Can't do the same thing with cash. Back in 2003 when I got robbed at gunpoint they took about 50 bucks from me. Since then I don't carry more cash than I need.I use my credit card to buy expensive goods when I have no money. It's great because then I don't have to worry about paying for it for another 10 years.SolidSnake35
Great post
I think i'm going to just stick with my debit card myself.

I have seen those at the local Mom & Pop convience stores, that are typically within walking distance of someone's place of residence. It is not necessarily easy to change retailers in that case as the next convience store is a mile or so down the road.
I understand the worry about losing money. In my line of work, we can recieve close to $300 a week in per deim in one lump sum. Losing that is not fun and I almost had that happen one time. I lost my wallet on the job and that included cash, my debit card and a company fuel card. I canceled my debit card and being payday weekend had no way to access any funds, especially as I was on the way to another job. Someone did find my wallet and I got it back, but having the cash (yes, it was still there) was better as I would not get a new card for a week or so as I was not able to go home to pick it up. Having cash means I can eat.

To be perfectly honest I would recommend people never to do that.. Credit card is protected meaning if your information is stolen you can have the charges denied.. Most debit cards I have seen have none such protections like a credit card.. And people stealing debt info is at a all time high last I checked, where people are tampering with outdoor ATM machines, gas station pump card readers and other such things to steal card info.. That and you help build you credit down the road when you may have to take out a loan some day of some kind be it for a home purchase or a car purchase with a good payment plan.
