I came across this article about Carls Jr, and how they were upping the ante in the food stakes. it seems they have a take no prisoners policy when it comes to creating food products that their customers want. But then again whose responsibility is it to ensure healthy eating of customers? It was also quite telling when the Carls CEO stated, "They think they want a salad, but they order a fries anyway".

Anyway article is here, it's really quite a good read.

FAT PROFIT - You want Onion Rings with that? They're already in the burger - along with bacon, cheese, BBQ sauce, and a corporate philosophy that says to hell with the health police. How a fast food chain is pushing gluttony to new extremes and changing America's attitude towards eating.

YOU are in charge of what you eat. McDonalds and other fast food companies provide YOU with what YOU want. Stop buying it if you dont like it, theres absolutely nothing forcing you to continue. Profit is good.

[QUOTE="killtactics"][QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]So, on the same token, I'm just curious: do all of you also believe that we should not prosecute drug dealers, just the users? Isn't it the same thing?Engrish_Major

Thats what i was going to say too. If we are not going to stop fast food from selling food which is killing people, then we should't stop people from selling crack or meth.....

Hey, eating a diet consisting solely of iceberg lettuce also results in nutritional deficiencies. Let's ban iceberg lettuce, too.

Hey french fries wouldn't be so unhealthy if they weren't deep fried and then covered in salt. So let's ban cooking oil and salt.

That's not the point. What could (maybe should?) happen is more control on how food is processed, not the banning of the ingredients themselves.

No, that is exactly what you are proposing.

Fast food, like ANY food, is only meant to be consumed in a healthy manner. Aside from any kinds of allergies, or from choking, has anyone ever died from eating ONE HAMBURGER? No, people die from OVEREATING hamburgers. Same way that you could die from overeating practically anything.

More to the point, a lot of REAL restauranrts sell BURGERS. Burgers, fries, fried ****ing fish, and huge freaking steaks that most normal people can't even finish. But it's not FAST food, so that makes it better?

You do know that burger king sells SMALL fries, right? Or that they sell SMALL burgers? They're not freaking making anyone order the super deluxe jumbo western whopper, and they're not making anyone order that **** every day. Same ****ing way that the cooking oil industry isn't forcing me to deep fry my damn salads.

How many people die because they eat too much lettuce? how many people die because they eat too much fast food? By the way i am the one who thinks neither of these should be banned so your comments are miss-directed at me....

And aside from allergies (such as from gluten) or from choking, can you provide one instance of one hamburger ever killing someone?

You can't walk up to McDonalds or Hardees or Burger King and order a lethal ****ing dose of hamburgers. The **** that people "die from" is the EXACT same **** that plenty of other people order with little to no effect on their health simply because they aren't ****ing idiots and don't eat that **** all the damn time.

What motivation would they have in killing us? A dead costomer purchases no food.

I don't see why people simply just don't buy it if they don't like it. BTW the onion rings on a burger was a amazing idea. I mean it's so simple - why didn't I think of that?

if you want government control of fast food then you risk putting lots of poor people and college kids on the street and with there parents.

this is why regulations are bad.

To make things controversial, I'm going to say yes, absolutely, positively. It is their fantastic scheme to take over the earth through fat poisoning.

To be realistic, we should know that fast food chains EXIST because we essentially sponsor them. All they do is try to keep up with demands for luscious (yet "disgusting" when we discuss politics and with healthy friends) treats for the family when the mother is done cooking, or your average high school kid requires a McFlurry.

That is all.

No, they want us very much alive; a dead customer means less profit, unfortunately for them, their product kills, and there isn't much they can do about that. They just care about profit more than health is the bottom line.

Just make the smart choice yourself and don't eat fast food more than once a month.
