[QUOTE="DazedDarkness"][QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]I am not a depressed 13 year old (which it seems that the lyrics were written by, and for). The lyrics are also one-dimensional - it's tough not to laugh when just reading them. And, musically, they are extremely simplistic riffs with basic 4/4 drum beats over them. For anyone who knows how to play an instrument, or enjoys complex writing or metaphors, it's actually hard to like them.Notsogr8oneBINGO! Eh, you're the music version of those people that can't stand Transformers 2. Not everything has to be deep to be enjoyable. The riffs may be simple, but they're definitely enjoyable. I'll admit, I don't like most of their songs but a few just stand out. Namely Faint and What I've Done. Do those two songs have the horrors that you've spoken of? Yes. Do I enjoy them regardless of that and even above some 'high art' songs? Very much so. Eh, I just like Faint because it was a fast song, I like Nobody's Listening because of the jungle sounding beat. And what's 'high art" songs, If you want that, try talking to those Mozart, Bach, and Beethtoven lovers, they'll give you the break down on why all modern music sucks. But Daft Punk, Justice, The Strokes, Grizzly Bear, ACDC, Kid Cudi,Kanye(more old starting Kanye), Radio Head, N.E.R.D. Gorillaz, Massive Attack, MGMT, Mos Def, is not high art, anyone with a simple understanding of music can appreciate them, Like Engrish said, they're so one dimensional, and cater to the 13-17 year old crowd who thinks they're either hard, and are in that angst stage of life, not that I generally "hate" them, but their music isn't for me. And their is way more emotional stuff out there, I don't need guys who aren't really that lyrically talented singing to me, a good musician can sing about what they sing about and make it not so obvious, it's for people who just need it spelled right out to them.
