Are Other Religions Just as Bad as Scientology?

The judge in Paris ordered the Church of Scientology to pay a €600,000 fine (roughly US$900,000) and sentenced its French leader to two years in prison along with a €30,000 fine (US$44,000) for "organized fraud." One of the women involved in the complaint claimed that she was conned into spending over €20,000 (US$29,500) on vitamins and life-improvement courses after she took one of the stress tests the group is known for administering to prospective members.

The question here is, do other religions do the same (organized fraud. All BS, all money). And if so, should they be convicted?

Most religions ask for donations. Scientology on the other hand pretty much makes its members pay money to stay a Scientologist.

So i would say Scientology is worse.

LDS church members are forced to tithe, but that's dwarfed by Scientology's seemingly insatiable need for money.

The line between cult and religion is mostly arbitrary, and what determines whether an organized belief system is a cult or religion depends mostly on how popular it is.

In Scientology's case though it's not really a religion but a fradualent business that hides behind the guise of being a religion in order to get away with all their illegal activities. While they're most known for the outrageous "fees" and "services" they charge their members (the "church" tries to take everything), their really heinous actions are the ones you don't hear much about. For example, scientology has it's own versions of concentration camps that it ships off troublesome members to under the pretense of "rehabilitation". There's also Seaorg (just google it) which is just as bad in many respects. Then there's their practice of harrassing and slandering their critics to the extent that they intend to make you commit suicide (related to this is Operation Snow White, where scientologists successfully infiltrated the FBI used their access to gain information on their most outspoken critics. to this day it remains the largest infiltration of the US government ever).

It's actually worse.

Not true at all. There is no one who forces my wife and I to pay Tithing. It's something we choose to do.

I would have to say no, just because Scientology isnt actually a religion but more of a company than an actual religion.
