They're okay. The last one's disappointing because it abandons the structure that was firmly established in the previous six, but they aren't terrible or anything like that.Theokhoth
I agree. I liked Hogwarts, but it was all but forgotten in the last one.

Every book you read will help you become a better writer, and the Harry Potter books are a dime a dozen. Harry Potter series is one of the best. If you read alot, than it will only take you like 5 or 6 hours to read each book.(Those are for the newer ones, will only take like 3 hours to read the first few.)

The Harry Potter series is worth reading, although the first few books relied on the charm and was aimed at a minor audience, it's also tell the journey of the main protagonist as he grows up. It's pretty cool in sense that as each book get progressively darker after the 3rd one, Harry starts to grow up and go into puberty.

No, there are much better books out there. Well, I guess reading the first three is fine (although the second is fairly meh), but after that it's not worth continuing.chessmaster1989

actually, after the third it gets better:P

I enjoyed them but it's not really all that challenging or thought provoking. But I would still recommend them.

Harry Potter is an excellent series for getting somebody into reading. Given that you're not in such a position, I would recommend you not to read it.

They are the best books in the world to me, my absolute favorites. They make me feel like I don't have to grow up too soon and they're easy to read, just really imaginative and lots of childish fun. I'm now a bona fide Harry Potter addict so they definitely changed my life. :P

they are in no way challenging and they arent really thought provokers either, but a student should be able to identify with the pacing in particular. as i said, they arent challenging to read so dont worry about how large the series appears. pick up the first 3 (they should be in paperback by now, so it probably wont be a big investment) and see if you want to ride the series to its end. still, i could recommend you better fantasy books if youd like.

I definitelywill say Harry Potter books are worth reading. It is a very fun and interesting series, much like the Narnia series.

Gonzafan
Narnia is infinitely better than Harry Potter. Like, Narnia is here, you see, and Harry Potter can't even see Narnia because Harry Potter is three dimensions lower than Narnia. Harry Pottter doesn't even know Narnia exists, it's so far from Narnia.

If you don't mind seeing the plot destroyed by the end of the series....be my guest.LJS9502_basic
yeah the last couple chapters and the epilogue destroyed it for me. be warned.

I'd recommend reading them. I only got through the fifth book as I read every released book the summer after 5th grade, but the sixth wasn't out yet. They were amazing to me back then though. If you eant to get sucked in to reading, they're the books for you.Having them all available to read back to back to back will helpsignifcantly in your enjoyment of the series as well.in There are quite a few things you'll need to remember between books and the quality of the experience diminishes with time, so you've really got it best. I recall trying to go back to the sixth book a few years ago, but it was too hard as I just wasn't sucked into the atmosphere anymore and I had forgotten a lot of fine details that I know would have made the experience a lot richer, so knowing that, I just gave it up.

They're a great way to get into reading though. After I read the ones that were released, I immediately picked up other popular series, including the Chronicles of Narnia which I enjoyed immensely as well. I'm not a raving fan, and there are definitely better books out there though.Once you read other books, reading Harry Potter feels a definitely feels a bit juvenile in some regards (at least the first two definitely do), but for someone such as yourself whose not as into reading, I couldn't recommend them more.

I'd take the books over most of the films. They are excellent page turners.
