People eat meat for nutritional value and taste. Not because of the manner it's obtained. As a reference, people who do witness the manufacturing process of meat have shown to turn away from eating it. So no, there's no "sexual gratification' from slaughtered animals.

I wonder if romans ever complained about if eating meat was wrong, and we should only eat vegetables/fruits.

Like what others' have explained: We are omnivores. We can eat meat and greens. There's nothing wrong with eating either, but one should not be favored over the other. But if someone does want to eat either one over the other, then let them. But don't go saying that you're better because you eat what you eat.

Yes, because when I eat a hamburger, I savor the suffering and pain of the innocent baby pig that was brutally slaughtered in order to be cooked into the delicious morsel of meat I hold in my hands :|

EDIT: For sure there are some slaughterhouses that treat animals terribly, but it's not like that happens everywhere, and the solution is not to stop eating meat. The solution is to enfoce the laws and regulations that are in place, and to boycott companies that condone the inhumane behavior. I love animals, but I still eat meat. There's nothing wrong with it. The problem is the idiots in some places who torture the animals for no reason whatsoever. But that is not the fault of the consumer, it is the fault of the big corporations.

Well personally I don't really care much about it. I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan, but I assume that many vegans would feel the same. Indifferent.

I like to think my pig was killed in brutal hand to hand combat and can still feel the pain of me chewing the bacon made from it in the afterlife.
