So pop it is?
:l
I'm sorry,It meant a straight face,in other words no comment.I'm not computer savvy. No offence intended.
Was a period of time where i listened 3 straight albums from them.
In time,i burned/threw all away all their songs ,as they sounded too weak for my ears as i entered heavier metal and Metalcore. All but one,the song that i instantly shunned away from,Hell's Bells. Damn,im glad i gave it a second chance because its the only one that survived the Burning. Even as a survivor on my phone,i rarely put it on,and when it is,i skip it.
@brimmul777: AC/DC are amazing. Absolutely phenomenal and they are the biggest rock band on earth for a reason.
They are not the biggest rock band one earth dude....

By what measure is AC/DC the biggest rock band on earth?
Well. Who are still going for sure. Of course Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Beatles say hi. But they aren't around any more. The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and U2 are the current mega bands still in existance. And I guess Aerosmith.
Pink Floyd is about to release another studio album.

To be fair, it's been about 20 years since their last album. AC/DC has either been putting out albums or touring at a somewhat steady pace for over the last 30.

None of which has anything to do with the being the "greatest" rock band. One note band is one note. No matter how many albums they put out.

The disrespect is real. If what AC/DC does is so easy and 'primitive', why didn't someone else think of it first? You even have the nerve to call them a one note band even though Angus Young is one of the greatest riff makers of all time. You don't have to like their music, but show some damn respect for real juggernauts in the music industry. I'm no fan of MJ apart from a few songs, and he didn't invent the wheel, but he's a legend and has done some amazing things and achieved a lot throughout his career. Including the biggest selling album of all time.
I never said AC/DC was the "greatest" of all time. I said they are about the biggest band still going today. You really need to stop being ignorant. Listen to Powerage, or the Black In Black album. All the way through. It won't bite.
AC/DC are well respected veterans in the music industry and many many musicians only have good things to say about them and what they did. Joe Satriani? You know of him? One of the guitar greats. He credits Angus Young as one of the best rock guitarists ever. And describes Back In Black as magic. And trust me, that is the general consensus in history. I don't have a problem that you dislike them at all. It's the severe lack of respect and downplaying and lets face it, what merit do you personally have to say such a thing? Are you seceretly Bono? Okay, why don't I deny U2 their right to say they pretty much inspired Alt rock way back in the beginning? Or that Bono has an insane sense of melody? I wouldn't do that regardless that I really don't like U2. And yes, it's some what Bonos fault for being a moron. But Sunday Bloody Sunday is magical. I guess my music taste spans further than yours then.
You keep stripping away AC/DC's achievements. See if that stops them from going down in history as one of the all time great live/record rock bands that have the biggest selling rock album ever, the most recognizable riff ever (Back In Black riff), one of the great guitar tones ever (JMP Marshall/60's Gibson SG/Gretsch combo), and currently the second fastest selling back catalouges in the world with only The Beatles backlog selling at a higher pace. Are they selling on Hype? I don't know about you, but AC/DC have kept pretty clear of the media lately. They just appeal to a lot of people. And it seems because they don't appeal to you that they are objectively bad. Just stop that shit.
Good points,well said.
I used to like that one song of theirs... then I realized they released that same song about 100 times.

Always love how someone thinks their opinion is the only true opinion. I HAVE listened to their music. There is nothing spectacular about it. They have one sound which has a variation for the rest of their songs. It's no secret that their songs all sound alike. Denying that is basically just saying YOU don't listen to their music.
Respected? By fans.....but just as many people DON"T respect them. Such hyperbole dude. How the **** did I suddenly become Bono according to you? What a silly statement. U2 did not invent alt rock by the way.
Here's some startling info for you....because something sells well does NOT inherently mean it's quality. It means it applies to the lowest common denominator and as such can generate sales...much like pop. A catchy riff and it will be lapped up by those that do NOT want anything that makes them think.
I used to like that one song of theirs... then I realized they released that same song about 100 times.
Correct.....
@scottpsfan14: Legends? Easily over used term to describe pop musicians that stick around for a bit. Pop short for popular. Popular....appeals to the lowest common denominator hence why it's POPular.
You like AC/DC whoop dee doo. Again it comes down to opinion. As does using the term greatest or best. I believe your choice was best. OPINION. No matter how much you rant about how wonderful AC/DC is to YOU...it means nothing to anyone else. I've never seen Angus up at the top of any greatest guitar player list by the way.
As for your liking more music than I do.....let's see how many genres do you like? I like rock, alt rock, blues, classical, r& b, hip hop, jazz, some country, reggae, electronic, folk, ska, some pop, and I'll include some metal though that is part of rock. Do you need to me to give you sub-genres or are we good?
, but that doesn't mean others feel the same way.
And you should pay attention yourself to that sentiment....

At the last part of your second point, Angus actually made it on Rollingstone Magazine's Top 100 Guitar Players of All Time (2003 issue). I still have the magazine, buried somewhere (one of the few things I saved during Hurricane Sandy), and I'm not sure where Angus was placed on, but he definitely was up there, along with Robert Smith and even Kurt Cobain. To spoil it for you guys, Jimi Hendrix came at #1.
Just saying.
According to his family, Malcolm has dementia.
Malcolm won't be back with AC/DC.He is replaced by his nephew,Stevie Young, and AC/DC's new album is called Rock or Bust and it's coming out December 2.Malcolm had no part in making this album. :(
I've never seen the argument "all of their songs sound the same" used to describe a band as much as it is used to describe AC/DC here. I'm interested what everybody who says that thinks about a Ramones album or a grunge album...
AC/DC is at least part blues rock at times, and blues bands aren’t exactly known for their artistic creativity, so this argument does not make much sense either.
I'm not saying you have to like them, but please just say you don’t like the edgy riffs, or the vocals, drumming, etc..

Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones were blues rock and their songs don't all sound the same so I don't buy it being the genre itself. Try again...

The vocals sound pretty bad IMO. That high pitched screamy style doesn't do it for me.
The riffs and drumming is fine, but the instrumentals don't have much in the way of texture. They might be more interesting if they incorporated more instruments.

Well, Led Zeppelin played downtempo folk rock and the ‘stones played R&B-infused rock in addition to playing psychedelic at times and AC/DC isn’t any of those, so those aren’t the best comparisons..
Eh, I guess the thing with AC/DC is that they take influence from strictly a handful of different artists who together only amount to 2 or 3 different genres. Now that I think about it, maybe a lack of variety is actually a valid complaint.
At least for me, the reason I like AC/DC so much is that they DO stick to the same song structures over and over. I can’t stand listening to a Led Zeppelin album or a Rush album because I can’t stand the folk rock tracks on a Led Zeppelin album and I’ve never been a fan of progressive rock. I like synthesizers, just not in rock, and I’ve never been a fan of ‘folk-anything’ ever.

Both RS and Zep are considered blues rock. Blues rock grew out of the blues.
The thing with AC/DC is their music just has no variety. It's all the exact same. The vocals aren't good either. And their lyrics aren't compelling. Add that to the repetition of their music and you can see why people don't like them. You do. That is fine. But don't get bent out of shape because others don't worship them the same. Note: I'm not saying you are but there were some individuals in this thread that did get a bit angsty over lack of agreement with them.
