I hate gangsters, no matter what colour they be. People tend to get that mixed up with racism with me. But o well, I often do have some racist jokes but thats for fun only.Ringx55
I actually only do racist jokes to people of that race. It makes it funnier. One of my best friends is asian, another is mexican, and another is black, so we have a nice little rainbow going. Of course, what goes around comes around, and I get made fun of for being the nerdy white boy :).

Hahah, exactly. As long as you don't take it serious its all fun and games.Things are better than ever, but its statistically way better to be white. I don't have any guilt about anything, but to think centuries of slavery followed by a century of a legislated designation as second class citizens will be wiped away in less than 50 years is ignorant.I'm a white American male, I'm not racist at all.
However, I do think NAACP is going too far anymore. I'm all for equality of the races, and believe in the things Martin Luther King suggested in his excellent speeches. The NAACP should exist because there are a share of white racists around, but it seems they jump on everything, ridiculous.
At this point, I think people of color tend to go a bit too far concerning the slavery issue. The grandfathers and grandmothers of most young blacks definitely deserve some consideration for reparations for the ridiculous crap my race put them through in the 50's, 60's and prior to that.
But African-Americans growing up today have opportunities their grand-parents didn't have, and its high time we realize things are much closer to equal than ever. Not completely, but close.
President Obama is half-black, half-white, so when you consider he was always treated as a minority, I believe African-Americans have arrived. I think white people do not need to apologize for slavery anymore (noone alive was a slave or a slaver), lets just all try to be on the same team.

I think everyone has a bit of racism in them. n00bkid
I say that all the time everyone is racist in one way or another.

I have said a few racist things in my time.X4D
I once had an argument on Usenet with a guy named Grendel. He was very cynical and a strong believer in free market capitalism.
I can quote you exactly what Grendel said to me:
"Hate to break it to you bub but racists are not a minority. The vast majority of human beings have some type of bias. Be it racism, bigotry, sexism, religious superiority, political superioroty or they just may not like blonde people.
Yes, ethnocetrism, racism, bigotry, sexism, religious and political superiority are human traits, and there's not a thing you can do about it. Most humans will think they are better than some person or some group. Most think they are smarter than another. Most think they are better looking than another. And those that proclaim loudly that 'no group is any better than the other' have a bias that they are more 'enlightened' than the rest of humanity.
It's the human condition, there's nothing you can do about it. You can not legislate morality and no amount of legislation is going to change a personal trait. You can only strive to set a better example. If a man really hates Irishmen, no amount of legislation that Congress can pass is going to make that man think, "Hey, those Irish Bastards ain't so bad.
The Myth that you can legislate how people think or how people feel is just another **** delusion of the mental dissorder that is liberalism."
Although I didn't like his cynical tone, I believe Grendel is absolutely right here.
I agree with that. I know here the line is blurred between 'racism' and 'religious superiority', and coming from an all-boys school there was a great deal of 'sexism'. No one can say they have never said or thought anything derogatory towards another group of people

Grendel has no first hand knowledge of what other's believe. The most that Grendel...or anyone else for that matter can say....is they have racist etc views. It's only those that harbor racist thoughts that cannot believe that other individuals do not feel the same as themselves. In short.....Grendel is wrong.
This is a pretty close-minded viewpoint. I see that you singled out racism, ignoring the fact that Grendel was discussing a general prejudice, or predilection, that causes someone to be biased against or for a certain type of person. Everyone has some sort of prepossession toward a certain group, be it a race or even just a sexual preference for a hair color or body type of a person, causing them to be, possibly unwittingly, biased against another group.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Grendel has no first hand knowledge of what other's believe. Why do you insist on using those smug smileys? Yes I missed the etc. Your argument is not an argument; it is inherently wrong. Humans are not as unique as you seem to think. Show me a person who has literally NO preference for even such a small thing as, for a hetero male example, a type of girl, even a personality type, and I'll show you a liar.[QUOTE="AFBrat77"]Things are better than ever, but its statistically way better to be white. As you no doubt read, I agree that the grandparents of todays teen blacks deserve some reparations for what was done to them, but not the younger blacks. They haven't been 2nd class citizens in years, so African-Americans born from about the 70's on do not deserve any special privilidges IMO, just as whites don't.
Much of the 2nd-class citizen tag HAS been wiped out, and we have a minority President to prove that.
No, not even close, as a black guy I don't hate other races because of how they are and I love white girls.8)

Thats fine and well, but black guys should have absolutely no qualms about white guys dating hot black chicks.......somehow they seem to have a problem with that. NO double-standards. What was that movie with Samuel Jackson?

Who do you think has shaped young black minds and personalities? And I disagree with Grendel. Not everyone is prejudiced against people based on groups. Sounds like grendel is justifying his own prejudices by saying everyone has them.;)Please Log In to post.
