Or do you notice that you are slightly more racist now than when you were younger? Do you find it harder to completely ignore race when you hear certian news stories, etc?

I don't date girls who have dated a certain race. But I'm not racist against them. It's childish and so 1900's to be racist.

I don't know about childish.. the older I get, the more racist I have become.

So what if I'm from Louisiana. I'm from New Orleans.. not some country Jena, La. bull****. I grew up in a mostly black neighborhood. I don't have a problem with lot's of black people as individuals.. but I hate the double standards, and how a lot of black peoples values. Lot's of children born out of wedlock, only 1 parent, no empathy for their children, etc. Just irresponsible. And I know it's not just black people, and it's not all black people.. but you can't deny that there is a high percentage of black people who are like that.
I wouldn't even say I'm racist... but I can't help but say that the above is pretty true. I guess it's those type of people who happen to be black that I find to be ignorant, irresponsible, rude, etc... not black people themselves.
Racism just puzzles me. Sure, we all generalize and sterotype other races, but going far enough to confront someone of another race or actually hating someone just because of culture is ridiculous.dodgerblue13
I agree with you ( but i dont genaralize and stereotype other races ).
This is also another reason we need to get idiots like Carlos Mencea out of TV. he is a failed comedian.
"when ignorance reigns, life is lost".
^I think we can all agree that is a fact

Well, that's just basically having hatred for people being negligent of their children. Not just a certain race.
Like I said, I grew up with mostly black people.. played basketball with, had plenty of black friends, fought with, etc. The little black girls in the neighborhood used to like to want to braid my moms hair when she was outside.
It was all cool when we were younger.. but as I get older, things aren't the same.
I am a little bit. Some black people just plain piss me off. So do some people of every race, but most of the time, it's black people. I'm not saying they're all bad; I have black friends. It's just that most people that piss me off happen to be black.needled24-7
I mean no offence to anyone here. but here i go. Im brown, and about 99% of the racists to me ive met in my life were white, with their idiotic stereotypical jokes. Its sad really...

I've met plenty of racist black people.

I personally wouldn't consider making jokes about stereotypes to be racist. In my opinion, it's only racism when you apply it to specific people. I realise that most people do however, which is why I have to consider myself a racist... even though I don't believe I am.[QUOTE="needled24-7"]I am a little bit. Well of course most of the people being racist to you are going to be white. I mean, a black person's not gonna be racist to another black person, etc.Besides, most stereotypes (for all races) are mostly true, that's why they exist.

Ehh I truly think I get it b/c i moved from a diverse city to a mostly white city. I guess they dont truly know yet how to diverse.
When I lived in Houston, Tx , everyone got along. Thats because it was a diverse city.

So that means YOU changed, and thats sad. You are supposed to get better, not worse.
When I was younger, to be honest, I couldn't stand white people. I have grown and learned a lot since then.
Edit: I also find it funny how in one thread people will say that black folks should "get over it", but in one like this, we can see that nearly 50% of non blacks are racist. Now imagine those people in positions of power where blacks are applying for jobs or requesting raises or promotions...

I'm not really racist.. I just find a lot of the negative stereotypes true for a lot of black people. When I was younger, I didn't understand all that. Now as I'm older, I see certian things and can't help but feel disdain towards people who fall into those stereotypes.
To a degree, yes. I can't help but take note of stereotypes and accept that sometimes they're, for the most part, true.SolidSnake35

They are, but you know what? There are negative stereotypes of all groups of people. The challenge most need to face is trying to understand WHY these differences exist but moreso realizing that we are all still more alike than not.
If you saw me, dressed in hip-hop gear with African jewelry and "dreadlocks" you probably assume certain things about me. But you would be surprised to learn that I hang out on Gamespot I bet. Or that my IQ is 144 (or 146, I always forget. LOL)
You should realize that our cultures are different. But I also realize that there are some of my brothers and sisters who are not helping.
