Nope. I'm not afraid of death, but more afraid of how I will die. Will it be painful or painless?
I don't believe there's an afterlife. I'm fine with there being nothing beyond death. I consider it an endless sleep without a dream...

Not really afraid of what may wait after I die, be it an afterlife or nothingness. However, the act of dying really freaks me out. There's way to many effed up painful ways to go out on this planet.
I am a deist, which means I don't believe in an afterlife. I believe that one you die you simply cease to exist, in the same way as you never existed until you were conceived. I am afraid of dying sure, but I know that after I die I won't know about it. Just-BreatheI am a deist and deists certainly do believe in an afterlife. You mean you're an atheist.

I think he means dietist, if you continue you eventually become nothing.
nope.
im not afraid of death. i could die tomorow and im content with that. would i like to die? no. but i know that dieing is inevitable so ive come to terms with myself and understand that if i were to die, wether it be soon or not, that i am happy with my life so far.

I am not afraid of death, I know that eventually I will die and by being afraid of it won't prevent it. UprootedDreamerYeah that's my feeling towards it. No use worrying about what you can't control...

The only thing that deism entails is that you believe that a god exists and it created the universe. It makes no mention of an afterlife and neither does atheism. Anything else tacked on isn't required for deism.

I am not sure if there is such thing as a painless death. Lethal injection maybe?
Nitrogen asphyxiation is supposed to be painless.[QUOTE="krazykillaz"][QUOTE="parkurtommo"]If you don't believe in an afterlife, why do you think that it would be like existing in nothingness? There's no you left to experience nothing so what's the problem?xsynthExactly this. When you're asleep you don't think oh I'm sleeping now and count down till you wake up; same as when you're dead it's not 'oh im dead, now I have nothing to do/see/feel/touch for eternity.
I ask, why do they need to be held accountable (after death)? What happens to the other animals that kill others of their own kind. It really is no different, we're not that special. If a person murders and gets the death penalty, is the fact they no longer exist not good enough? Yes that's true, but still, it is nothing, can you even imagine what would go through an atheists mind (a scared of death one like me) when they know they are dying? I certainly can't.Let's put it this way there are people who in this world who commit murder and absolute henious crimes and get away with it. Do you think the cops can capture all the criminals and murders in this world? Certainly not.
Who will hold those people accountable for their actions if they get away with it. The only answer to me is God.

Dying is a lot like passing out or fainting and that gets less scary each time it happens.OborozukiyoThat's generally how i view it as well. without going into details, i've two times when i was at the hospital where my body just went limp and the lights went out. and no it wasn't fainting due to being scared of a needle or something like that.
LMAO, the posting results are quite disturbing. Bunch of lies in this thread. sethman410I'm sorry can you please elaborate.

Dieing in your sleep seems pretty painless.....But wouldn't your heart have to stop at some point. Wouldn't that involve pain...if your heart stops.
As the song goes, It's not the end I fear with each breathe, it's life that scares me to death.
Is there an Afterlife? Who knows, I like the Idea of one, but don't bank on one. Nor confident that it's something I would like or want to be apart of. If there is one of some degree, I just hope it's lacking all the conflict and noise of this life.
Nope, I don't have any fear of death I pretty much look at like this death is gonna happen so why should I be afraid of something that is gonna happen and nothing I can do about it to stop it anyway. Though is a bit annoying to have a clock someplace dictating on how much time you have left, I just hope I have enough time so I can choose my own death, and I am not exactly looking for an easy way or painless way either.
I'll be deeply affected if someone close to me dies sure. As for me dying, myself? Nope, it's the circle of life, it happens to everyone, it's suppose to happen, why be afraid of the inevitable?
I'm actually waiting anxiously for it... i might even accelerate the prcoess if you know what i mean.

Don't know. I haven't heard of anyone being in pain when they die in their sleep. Perhaps I should have said the least painful death then since this seems to be an argument of semantics...:P[QUOTE="Xtasy26"]

Believe it or not, you do experience pain in your organs. Pain, at its most basic, is an impulse that is supposed to warn the brain that something is wrong. However, if you literally felt pain at, or perhaps more accurately from, your organs I imagine it would be quite the traumatic experience. Rather, when you are experiencing pain from your internal organs it is displaced, that is your nervous system takes the nerve impulse from your organs and sends a nerve impulse to your brain indicating pain in an unrelated area. This is why people who have heart attacks talk about chest pain or pain in their left arm.
As to if people who die in their sleep experience pain, perhaps we should ask them.
This is what I think too. I seem to be the most terrified person here apparently :PI'm a lot more worried about nothing happening at all. Losing everything.

How do you know you don't like dying if you've never tried it before :P
