And for you non-smokers who say pot should be legal, are you honestly going to tolerate such a thing? Says the guy who probably pops Xanex because of all the worry that those scary liberal hippies will come in the night and start a music festival in his back yard. Medically sponsered and perfectly legal addiction. Lol.

i support full legalization. taxation, ending the drug war, reducing gangs are my main reasons for supporting legalization. whereas i think tobacco should be illegal. not really, i believe everyone should do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt others but why is tobacco legal and not marijuana? it's much more harmful.paullywog
agreed.
compared to tobacco and alcohol, marijuana is harmless both in the long term and short term
I will admit that I have experience with people smoking themselves stupid (roommates, specifically), but they quit for like a week and were so sharp and smart lol. They had to smoke a lot to get that stupid too, Im talking like 8 times a day.
I am more for decriminalization of personal possession and personal cultivation, than all out legalization. I have a fairly hefty experience with the substance and as much as it pains me to see people being treated as criminals for such a trivial and petty offense, I do not want to see it mass marketed akin to alcohol and tobacco. People should only use it if they so desire, it should not be all over billboards and adverts being stuffed down the populations throat.

yea I can agree with this.
its like, if you want to grow it and share it, fine, but I dont want to see Camel-brand Reefers in 711, you know?
then again, if it were completely legalized and commercialized, that would be a whole lotta money coming in. Of course, people grow it themselves now anyway and there really is as much weed out there as you want lol

I don't smoke. Never have. I know a lot of people who do however, be it a daily thing or a once in a while thing and honestly I have no issues with it whatsoever. Are they breaking a law? Yes. Does that make them bad people? Not in the slightest. Its something they like to do to relax and if it makes them happy why the hell should I tell them to stop. If they act like jerks when high, I won't hang out with them, but usually all that happens is suddenly they're hungry and everything is hilarious and since when did laughing make people bad? Laws are necessary for real crimes. I don't consider smoking weed to be a real crime. Smoking weed is only bad because some jackass made a really crappy law declaring it as such.[QUOTE="cgoqsz"][QUOTE="mephie25"] Thank god people like you are rare, always wanting to control what other people are able to do.needled24-7

People forget that in the US, if its a rights issue, while they might not like what they do, they should defend to the death their right to do it.
You need to look objectively at issues like this, not selfishly. Ask yourself these questions:
1. What are the benefits to legalization?
2. What are the benefits to smoking pot?
3. What are the negatives to smoking pot?
4. How would legalization effect me personally?
And after considering all that, you need to weigh an unbiased, objective conclusion that is for the consideration of all your fellow citizens, and not just yourself.

Was that post directed towards me?
i'm not for any recreational drug outside of medical use (not sure if that's implied by medical use) but i dont see anything wrong with its legalization if the right guidelines are followed. How potent is this drug anyway? if it's strong enough to make people go high and crazy, i dont support its legalization. but i doubt it would be legalized if it werent safe (or as safe as beer or smoking), so if it's legalized, its reasonable enough and i wouldnt condemn it but i wouldnt advocate for its legalizaiton if it werent legal.bionicle_lover
Some stuff is not very potent, other stuff is a one hitta quitta. But it does not make people go crazy or become violent. Alcholol has many more negative effects.

people dont go crazy from weed. they do the exact opposite, actually, and get extremely mellow and peaceful, albeit quite hungry.
Also, you dont overdose on weed. If you smoke too much, you fall asleep.
I like the decriminilzation idea posed earlier by another poster; if you want to grow it and consume it in your own house, fine, but I dont want to see it in my local cornerstore, advertized on TV, and more.
Thats a nice middleground that keeps our prison system free from nonviolent offenders and people that dont deserve to be there, lets people do what they want (weed is essentially harmless) in their own homes, and yet its not out in public and in your face.

That's simple. All you have to do is quit smoking pot.cgoqszSo riddle me this. A man is a doctor, and a damn fine doctor at that. He has a flawless record in terms of his patients. He has always found the cure and saved thousands of lives over the course of his career. After work he volunteers at a local soup kitchen. Then when he gets his paycheck he gives half of it to a charity for blind people, every single time he gets paid. One time he was walking home and saw a woman getting mugged at which point he immediately ran into the alley and rescued her, with words, not violence. But on his day off he likes to relax from all the stresses of his normal routine with a joint. Is he a bad person? Is he the scum of society? You may think all stoners are total burn outs but if you really cared enough to look you'd be surprised at how many productive members of society smoke.

Please, tell me, why should I stop smoking?
And just for some fun here is a good read...http://www.boingboing.net/2009/10/07/carl-sagan-spaced-ou.html... it is a piece written by Carl Sagan about his experiences while high. I think the average smoker should find it interesting and if you're kinda on the edge about the whole issue, I suggest you read it as well. Provides some insight about the high-mind.
