I am trying to get better since I am taking a theater acting class and I have to memorize a page long monologue. Its not easy but I find that writing things down helps me memorize.

Yeah. I was like 9 and memorised a whole play and I was Juliette so it wasn't like it was a few lines.
That was a good day :)
Yes. Writing helps me too. I manage to get high marks at the university without learning at all, I just remember almost everything I heard... Unfortunately, I'm really bad when it comes to numbers and addresses.
I'd never go back to theatre. I never enjoyed memorising roles, improvisation is what I did best.
[QUOTE="LikeHaterade"]There are, but I forgot them.Aren't there methods on improving memorization?
Engrish_Major
Apparently they didn't work. :P
Yeah. I use mnemonics. I have a vivid imagination and relate stuff to other stuff, which helps me memorize stuff. The more sexual or weirder the thing is, the easier it is to remember.
For example, why bother knowing that tan²x + 1 = sec²x...
I remember that 2 tan girls plus me (1) equals sex.

:o there is so much I can learn from you...Would not that be 2 tan though.:PYeah. I use mnemonics. I have a vivid imagination and relate stuff to other stuff, which helps me memorize stuff. The more sexual or weirder the thing is, the easier it is to remember.

It depends on what it is , unfortunately. I am excellent at memorizing music for performance, not so great at remembering where the hell I put my keys.
Would not that be 2 tan though.:P How about "a square tan girl plus me (1) equals square sex." :P[QUOTE="the_foreign_guy"]

:o there is so much I can learn from you... Try it next time, it makes life so much easier. I forgot to say, personal examples work good as well. Some more examples: livor mortis - The liver is an organ, and organs are made of blood. (When blood settles in dead body) rigor mortis - Rigorous training means hard work and tough. (When body stiffens in dead body) algor mortis - Al Gore hates global warming. Global warming has to do with temperature. I'm liking this, got any chemistry examples? :D

I haven't done chemistry in a while, so do you have any specific topics? One thing I used for chemistry to balance equations was a complex (but easy for me) way using a mole to cross the mole bridge, complete with troll that won't let you pass under said bridge.[QUOTE="Jonesy914"][QUOTE="the_foreign_guy"] Try it next time, it makes life so much easier. It's the organic chemistry i'm stuck on, like memorizing reactions of halogenalkanes or carboxylic acids, etc.

Just see if you can find a pattern or something to help you memorize the stuff. Chem is hard to make mnemonics for, but it's not impossible.

No worries, i appreciate the effort. I do have a diagram of all the reactions, huge though it may be, it's just one of those things in science you need to practice over and over again. :?
