Meh..Anyone can talk smart. 'Smart' to me is having the knowledge and being able to know what it means'. In the age of the internet if someone asks me a question I can potentially go on wikipedia, skim it and copy and paste something that seems relevant.
To answer you're topic question, I'm in high school. I just finished my freshman year (it literally ended yesterday) with a 4.0 GPA both semesters. I'm also in the Gifted Education program. So, you could make the claim that I am "smart," but I tend to be a humble guy and I don't like talking about my strengths.Alex3796

The vocab here is nothing special.... There are some that have better than average but i wouldn't say this board in general are particullarly linguistically affluent. Though in some groups of gamers you can tell who reads the most fantasy novels, things such as LOTR have words that you'll never come across in common publications.
I'd attribute it more to the fact that people don't use IM-speak here, unlike most places on the Internet.
I would say it is extremely easy to act smart on the internet. You can't be seen and you have an infinite source of information at your finger tips. People can pretend they know anything and claim they study anything. I'm an aerospace engineer for NASA (not really, but just saying... you don't know who is full of BS and who isn't).
