Are you looking forward to Green Day's new album?

Just wondering, as it's coming out May 15 I believe. I'm listening to a 90 second preview from the album on their MySpace profile, and it's really good.

If they had announced that they realized that American Idiot sucked and they should go back to making good music, I would have been. If they had announced that they realized that American Idiot sucked and they should go back to making good music, I would have been. Ever since hearing that it was going to a follow-up to AI both musically and thematically, I've been bracing myself for another wave of crappy singles and annoying preteen fans.

I hated every song I heard off of that album. AI, BOBD, Wake Me Up When September Ends... it was all just boring and derivitave, and screamed "I hate Bush because it's the cool thing to do!"

I guess it didn't help that I love their old stuff precisely because it's cheeky and immature. I can respect them trying to mature and get a little more serious, but jumping on the Bush-bashing bandwagon with a few cliche punk chord progressions isn't my idea of maturation. More like a shameless cash-in.

I used to listen to them when I was in the 5th grade... so I might... or not.

Yes, I am. And aside from the title track, which was awful, American Idiot was a decent album.

I'm really looking forward to it. I have all their albums from 1039 to American Idiot. I don't expect this album to be bad like American Idiot.

Back when I was in Junior High, Green Day was my favorite band...and today theystill are.

Absolutely not. They had something going on with their side-project, The Foxboro Hot Tubs, but it sold like crap. It must be hard, trying to release something different and meaningful only to fail achieving success with it because people just want the usual mainstream garbage.
