UUUhhhhh....... Make it stop!....... Please! The media (Fox, CNN, ET, Extra, etc) always takes what ever coverage story they can get and overblow it to the point were my brain starts to melt and my eyes begin to bleed. I'm not just talking about a curtain sports legend as of late, but the whole media outlet in general. I'm glad we have some form of entertainment and stories, but this is unnecessary information overload.

This is why I reduced my TV viewing to save brain cells.

I've cut back on my T.V. watching time mostly because I can't stand the ideas that are propagated. Sorry, but I strongly dislike social fads.

Nah, I don't care about the media. I read the news stories that I want to read, and that's it. I stay away from what I don't want to deal with.

I don't see the point in media, well yeah it holds its purpose sometimes but they hold the information therefore they can twist it and turn it into something its not

The media is honestly sabotaging society. No longer do people talk about what's going on in the government unless some scandal happens. People ar eheavily invested in celebrity gossip and news...building people up and tearing them down. Too many kids don't take education seriously, and in too many places, being smart is seen as being elitist.

"the media" and trash journalism are entirely different things.

i don't like the heavy coverage of Mr. Woods, either, but I'm defintely glad to have them around when there's a forest fire near where I live, a huge storm coming in where some of my family lives, or when I want to know who won last night's game.

just because you don't like some aspects of something doesn't mean you should avoid the entire institution.

despite the bad, the media still does a whole lot of good.

I don't really watch the news. I get all my news from my friends (who are super conservative) who fill me in why Obama is horrible and the internet. I prefer the internet.

Just take whatever you see with a grain of salt considering the media, for the most part, is nothing more than an outlet for propaganda.

The media gives people what they want. So maybe you should be upset about celebrity worshipers. After all...without that aspect we wouldn't get the non stop coverage.

When people find out I don't read/listen/watch the new they get all uppity about how I don't know what's going on in the world. To which I respond "actually you don't either".

I like the internet news though. I can set my yahoo page up for just the types of articles I like, and it only gives me headlines so I can decide if I want more. 90% of it's crap, but it's not wasting a ton of my time which I seem to have plenty of.

I especially hate how the media thinks they're so damn clever. Like attaching the word -gate to the end of any scandal. THE WATERGATE INCIDENT WAS NAMED AFTER THE WATERGATE HOTEL, AND YOU'RE NOT AS CLEVER AS YOU THINK!!!!!!

I think the suffix -gate subliminally indicates a conspiracy, or maybe it's just me.

Media in theory is essential, but in practice it's damn near revolting. Media is in a sad state today, instead of spreading actual news it's all about the shock factor for more views.

I just feel they should be covering something else. Something actually important, like the war. Do you know how many times I've heard the name Tiger Woods since the last week? Too many to care for.

its not really a big deal it has its pors and it cons. Sometimes its interesting when you hear about stuff people are doing that you may have not known about or soemthing that is upcoming. But the worst part is when they just get a story and blow it way out or proportion and they go on about it everyday for a month. Thats when it starts to really get annoying.

God, yes. Trivial bullcrap combined with incessant yammering about the latest celebrity scandal (that's been going on for two months) is driving me insane. Top that with the fact that everything important is either ignored or embellished to the point of absurdity with media spin and I hardly even turn on the television anymore. More people know about the Tiger Woods affair than the Copenhagen Conference, the largest United Nations environmental conference in history. There's more media coverage on Michael Jackson's death than the war in Afghanistan.

It's not just the news media either. Commercials are nothing but the latest fashion craze and Hannah Montana fad for pre-teens. Christmas time television is populated with ad upon ad of over-expensive useless crap that spoiled brats everywhere are gonna beg for because they can't fathom the concept of not getting what they want. Television shows, with a few exceptions that tend to become overrun with the crap, are nothing but the same goddamn sex and fart joke repeated over and over again for eighteen seasons. "Oh, look, the husband did something stupid that the wife saw coming a mile away; that's so ****ing original!"

Books like Twilight and Harry Potter are considered "literature" by the modern teenager and adults are actually trying to catch onto that hype train. Authors like James Patterson and Dan ****ing Brown are known by everyone all over the world, but mention an author that's actually decent and he's either unheard of or considered "boring" by the dumbed-down masses simply because they don't write about sex and guns. Book covers are littered with imprinted "NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE" stickers because every single goddamn New York Times bestseller has to become a crappy movie at some point or another.

And the movies! All this crap being defecated onto the screen by dunces like Michael Bay BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE ENJOY.

And if you voice a damn single thing about the swirling motion our culture is making down to hell, you're an elitist.

**** the media.

There are a million places to get your news from nowadays, so I can get the info I want from TV and internet sources and not have to be subjected to any celebrity obsession. We love to hate commercial news, but it's not as awful as we'd like to think.

We are actually writing essays about the media in one of my classes. Weird :P

Anyway, I don't know that despise is the right word, but I definitely disagree with some of the ideas that they try to throw out there.

I have no problem with the media in general.

They wouldn't report on inane celebrity happenings if people weren't interested in them, so you shouldn't really blame the media for reporting those stories as much as you should blame to people who give them incentive to report them.
