Was there ever a particular time or moment when you just immediately started liking a certain style? Well, a few years back, in about 8th or 9th grade, my friend put some Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Godspeed You! Black Emperor (Random, eh?) on my ipod. I absolutely loved the two bands, and from there went on to Metal, New Wave (Dark Wave), Classic Rock, and Electronic music.

What are your "Stories" if you have any.

Like 3. I grew up in my grandparents music shop. I love things from punk rock to blues. no country, and rap isn't music.

When I discoverd heavy metal. I listened to a bunch of punk and ska before that, now I just look back and think: Why? It's so dumb.

Around the age of 6. My brother was 12 at the time and started getting into Metallica and Korn, so since I didn't feel like listening to my sister's Spice Girls CDs, I listened to my brother's instead. It just went on from there, and ever since then, my interest in Metal has been constantly growing.

I went through a long period where I didn't like any music. Then, I liked it a little. I think I started appreciating music around 15-16 years old.

I started at a young age since I was around music ever since I could remember. My dad would play his guitar almost every night and I would go in his room and listen to him.

13 I think. Before that, all I was in to was Eminem and before that, I was into Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Aaron Carter etc...

Then at 13 I started to listen to mainstream rap only to get turned off. Then I got into rock. I started to slowly discover artists and I'm not I'm always trying to discover my next "favorite band".

Since I was 12 years old and I listened to my older brother's Offspring cd. Since then I've gotten into Rock, Indie, hip hop, and electronica, and a little metal. The only thing I outright dislike is country. (With the exception of Johny Cash)

Up until I was 15 I was listening to crap like Clay Aiken and Hilary Duff. Once I hit 15 I came to my senses and fell in love with rock.

I'd rather listen to 30 minutes of farting than their new cd.

I used to be on the fence with music. I could take it or leave it when I was growing up despite the occasional song that brought reminiscent feelings here and there. When I got back to the states and was bombarded by the faux hip hop, bling culture, I wrote off not just hip hop, but modern music as a whole until I rediscovered The Roots' Things Fall Apart, A Tribe Called Quests' Midnight Marauders, and Biggie's Ready to Die. That prompted me to be a bit more proactive in finding and experiencing hip hop and, as a result, other genres, i.e. Jazz, Rock in all its forms, the Blues, R&B etc.

Yeah this is a pretty easy and good memory for me. I was 12 and saved up and bought the first CD player on my block in87. About $300! I had just enough cash for 1 cd, and loved the cover to AFD by Guns N Roses, played it non-stop for a year, even my dad got into them. Saw them in concert a few years later, have had a great love hate relationship with GNR since, but love music.

I think it's alright. Their new album has some of the heaviest stuff that they've done, it's just that all of their albums are so short there isn't a lot to choose from.

At age 9 i started to listen to punk and ska I found on my brother's computer. At about 13 I started to listen to hardcore punk which led to listening to metal. Now at 17 I mostly listen to metal and the occasional rock/punk/alternative.

I probably started developing a taste for music around 4 years old. I know the first album I bought was Metallica's Black Album way back when I was young but then I grew into a hip-hop/funk/soul fan.

Probably around 13 when I started listening to Ben Harper. In hindsight it was a bad choice, because Ben Harper makes everyone else sound much worse than they actually are. :P

Mine time was around 14. Before then I would listen to a bit of rap my uncle handed down to me, but not that much. When my mom gave me American Idiot (Green Day) in Christmas 04, everything changed. My discman got dusted off, which then travelled in my school bag, which then became an iPod, and I went on from there.

When I was 6 and in year 1 I made friends with this other boy. He came to school one day and asked if I had heard of bands such as Metallica and Megadeth. I had not, so I went to his house and listened to his brothers cd's. I was immediately hooked. I listened to them a lot for the next 2 years, then music kind of dropped out of my life until 2 years later when I was in the same boys class again, and I sort of got back into it. It wasn't till about 4 years ago that I REALLY got into music and started listening to other genres and exploring other styles and I also took up learning bass guitar 8 months ago. Hopefully, if all goes to plan, I will have a band up and running by the end of March and I can start making the music I love.

I think it happened when I first got a car. That's when I first started to get into music. So I would say about, what, 16?
