I do not. I find the idea quite ridiculous. If we live our lives thinking "this is the only one we get" we will be far more willing to get the most out of this one, and strive for excellence here foxhound_fox
this is exactly my thought as well. Someone that does not believe in an afterlife is, in short, better motivated to be a better person.
Some Christian friends of mine asked me "How can you be a good person if you dont believe in an afterlife? If you dont, then you do not believe in consequences for your actions, therefore youre free to do whatever you wish, good or bad"
My response was that humanity is good at its core, there is no "original sin", we are good people to eachother and to ourselves billions of times a day, day after day.
Being good solely out of fear that you will get punished after you dieis not genuinely good. It is quite the opposite imo. Faith in the supernatural afterlife is a crutch for a wounded soul. Living a good life because it is what you strive for naturally is a truly healthy soul.
