I accept death as a passage to a new life, whereas you accept death to be the end of your entire existance, it gives me the impression that your life is not worth fighting for, oryou find it ok to never exist ever again, it doesn't seem like you value your life too much.

Mind_Mover
I never said I was an atheist? Anyway, it seems to me that this being the only life we're living makes this life more important to Atheists than religious folk who live more for the afterlife.

You are confusing, i don't know if you do it intentionally for me to reply more or you are unaware of what you post, either way its kinda rude giving off the wrong impressions, if you don't show atleast a minimal effort to explain your position.

"Religious people have such odd notions about atheists."

"i didn't say i was an atheist?"

Pretty damn confusing, yet you answer my previous question by saying that Atheists value life more than religious people do, how would you know if you don't represent or follow any type of religion, or phylosophy, or nothing?

Just because someone does not follow a particular belief or non-belief doesn't make them incapable of knowing about it. Many atheists know more about Christianity than some Christians... which is sometimes the reason why they are atheists.

If an Atheist knows more about Christianity than a Christian does, then the Christian person in question is a fake Christian. (like 80% of the worlds population) people who call themselves christians then go to iraq are not christians at all.

Like the radical muslims who are fake and corrupted by people who have no belief in god at all.

Regarding the other guy,

How am i going to understand what an atheist thinks, if he is not atheist himself?

You were doing a pretty good job at pretending to know what an Atheist thinks without my help...

1: He may call himself a Christian but that doesn't mean that he deserves to be recognized as a true christian. Rule 1, thou shall not kill - if your intention isn't to kill then don't go to Iraq:|

2. I am not pretending to know what an Atheist thinks, i simply gave my opinion on the impressions that Atheists give me. I do not know what they actually believe.

What i know is that they don't believe in eternal life, i understand that, but if eternal life was prooven to be a fact, would atheists look forward to it?

Do you honestly expect me to be able to tell you what I experience when I die? If I knew then there would be a strong probability that I would be dead. Which, as we all know, is impossible.

Atheists will experience the very same thing everyobdy who dies experiences.

Your soul and consciousness will be infused into an inanimate object of your choice. Pick something good, like a corn cob pipe.

Being an atheist doesn't mean there's nothing supernatural, it's just that there is no god, no ruler that rules your destiny (I think (?) - correct me if I'm wrong - Besides I'm not an atheist)

Teenaged

I don't think I've ever met a hard atheist who believed in the supernatural. Atheism usually comes with the belief that what we see in the universe is all there is, although that's technically not an inherent part of the definition.

How am i going to understand what an atheist thinks, if he is not atheist himself?

Mind_Mover

By talking to them. :P You don't need to agree with a person's views to be able to accurately articulate what they are.

Yes probably, which begs me to question that kind of logic. Where as i have faith for a tommorow, an atheist by default (i am making asumptions), doesn't believe in a tommorow...until it arives.

I don't know of any atheist who doesn't think there is ample evidence that tomorrow will in fact arrive. The reason why they don't believe in a god is because they don't think there's evidence in favor of such an entity.

Most Atheists i know tell me the same thing. You will die, you accept it, you live your life to the fullest and you will never exist again because afterlife is impossible. Well, when i question them and say, if your life is so good, then why not hope to keep it forever? most of them give me the same response.

We don't care, fact is we are gonna die. When interpretated, you'd think that their life is only worth it for the time it is endured, where as i think that my life is worth eternity. When i say that i think that way of thinking is sad, i don't mean it as"bad-sad"for me to think that my life is only worth the 70 years i will live, would depress me to no end. So this aparently has no effect on atheists but that just makes me question their moral and emotional feelings, i am interested and not here to judge anyone btw.

Well they obviously go to heaven. Why would a loving God send anyone to Hell? Even if they completley deny his existance, and reject his attempts to save them, and break all his laws. I mean whats the big deal about breaking God's laws anyway? It couldn't be as bad as breaking the government's laws. Just cause he's a perfect God doesn't mean he can't make laws and not enforce them, I mean people can do whatever they want right?!Clean_Water_Mmm

Trust me, your seriously barking up the wrong thread here.

This one life is your chance to do something really special. Like Jeffery Dalmar.

[QUOTE="Mind_Mover"]people who call themselves christians then go to iraq are not christians at all.Jandurin
So... no person who went to Iraq is a Christian?

How am i going to understand what an atheist thinks, if he is not atheist himself?

Mind_Mover
You were doing a pretty good job at pretending to know what an Atheist thinks without my help...

I have to agree with that comment, I may hate them but surely there were a couple of Christians who went to Iraq.

It is meaningless. You may choose to do something great in your life that will be remembered. But eventually everything is forgotten.

I don't think anyone on here is qualified to talk about what happens during and after death, considering we're alive.

Do you believe that Atheists live better lives because they know they only live it once? For me i see it as this, me, my world, my rules, 1 life, go wild, screw others, its not like i will be punished when i die because i won't exist.

Doesn't that give people an excuse to do the things that they do? the greatest ambition that any person could have would be to rule the world. Isn't that something every atheist should go after, seeing as it is the best life and one should always get the best in his life.

Hah, I could give you a total mind screw about how Heaven would really suck for personal identity. Heaven isn't exactly the greatest thing since sliced bread.

What did you experience before you were born?

I imagine that those who believe in no afterlife picture death being much the same way.

I look at it this way: either there is something, or there is nothing. If there is something, you will experience it; if there is nothing, you won't be around to recognize that fact. So, no sense in worrying about the prospect of no afterlife.

GabuEx
But you could say the same about the time when you were a small child, I have no memories of that whatsoever, but that doesn't mean that anything didn't happen to me during that time, and obviouslly it did happen, or else I wouldn't be here.

Anyone who needs a carrot-on-a-stick to make them behave is not a good person.
