Australia has no bill of rights and very few avenues for the advancements of civil rights and liberties. Addtionally, the Australian High Court lacks the real institutional independence of our Supreme Court from the executive, so the government is much more consolidated. Their state and local judges also lack individual freedom because of pressures from the federal government, which prevents citizens from receiving consistently fair treatment in court. I'll take the United States. On the bright side though, Australia does not have California, which almost makes me want to move there.

Australia is like a first-world nation way out in the middle of nowhere.authorityissues
New Zealand gets to be that and some islands.
I would be more "out of place" in the US, but I think that I would rather live there than in Australia.
You know what they also have? GIANT KILLER SPIDERS!Which one is better and why?

Australia is nice and all, but the USA is so large and has so much variety that it pretty much has everything Australia has and more. Besides, Australia has huge spiders >_>TauruslinkWe have huge everything ;) You get used to it after a while though, hehe. Australia for me, but i'm totally biased.

Well, misunderstood humor is something I can relate to... I was once banned from a site, for giving the admin this picture... he thought I was saying he was the guy on the left. :P http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v187/ssj4_2004/keepitrealhomies.jpg On topic, I don't think I'd survive in austrailia.. since I have a terrible fear of spiders. If the place isn't "infested" with them as people would like me to believe, then i think it'd be a nice place to visit.[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"][QUOTE="Baconbits2004"]

We don't have them in extreme numbers, we just have a higher proportion of poisonous ones.[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"][QUOTE="_rock_"] Don't believe what? lol_rock_That you don't see any giant spiders.Maybe they just don't seem giant to me anymore:P Anything bigger than the tip of my thumb is GIANT.

Lol @ the people who think we have giant spiders tearing apart our cities. Like any nation we have spiders; like most spiders they are poisonous. Like many countries our most deadly animals are out in the wilderness where people are stupid enough for going into, and probably deserve to be bitten by deadly spiders and scorpions, snakes etc for going there in the first place.
Plus things like Kangaroos and Koalas aren't cute either. They are wild animals, and as such it in in their nature to tear people apart.
We have some novel things, beaches, sunshine, but it gets old fast. Living here sucks. I know I already posted and said Australia for everythging else, but really I hate living here. I like Australian culture a little bit more though.

Hunstmen are awesome. They eat all the cockroaches and other bugs in your house. We get a fair few of them around here, they get pretty massive. Nice spiders though, better than finding a funnel web/orb weaver :P
